Historique
La mosquée est construite entre 1920 et 1930 au camp de Caïs, l'un des camps aux alentours de Fréjus où stationnaient des troupes coloniales sénégalaises. C'est une réplique de la mosquée de Djenné au Soudan (actuellement au Mali). Organisée sur un niveau de plan carré, de composition symétrique, la mosquée est peinte en ocre rouge. Les tours d'angle sont ornées de pointes en béton armé, imitant les poutres en bois renforçant la construction, en terre, du modèle africain. L'édifice est couvert en terrasse, à laquelle on accède par un escalier demi-hors-oeuvre. A l'intérieur, les peintures murales sont inachevées. La mosquée est aujourd'hui désaffectée. Elle appartient à l'Etat.

History
The mosque is built between 1920 and 1930 at the camp of Caïs, one of the camps around Fréjus where Senegalese colonial troops were stationed. It is a replica of the mosque of Djenné in Sudan (now in Mali). Organized on one level of square plan, of symmetrical composition, the mosque is painted in red ochre. The corner towers are decorated with reinforced concrete spikes, imitating the wooden beams reinforcing the construction, in earth, of the African model. The building is covered with a terrace, accessed by a semi-external staircase. Inside, the mural paintings are unfinished. The mosque is now disused. It belongs to the State.
