The construction of the château is documented by notarial deeds dated from 1632 to 1653 and carried out by Jérôme Duranti, counsellor to the court of accounts, aids and finances of Provence. The architectural design favours a style closer to the 16th than the 17th century. The taste for the picturesque, fashionable in Mannerist style, is displayed in the staircase cage through its gypserie decoration which also extends to the reception rooms. The decorations are inspired by those existing in the hôtels particuliers of Aix. At the beginning of the First Empire, a series of wallpapers was added to the decoration. The first-floor salon presents a panoramic wallpaper called "the gardens of Bagatelle" or "English gardens", attested as the first example of panoramic wallpaper in France. Since the original frames were not preserved, a simple border reduces its presentation to panels. Production of the Mâcon manufacture Dufour, carried out between 1800 and 1804, it was produced from a drawing by the painter Pierre-Antoine Mougin, himself inspired by the collection by Debucourt, entitled "Modes and manners of the day in Paris at the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th". The large bedroom situated on the first floor presents a trompe-l'oeil of draperies.
