First Russian parish church built in Western Europe in 1859, thanks to a subscription opened by the Empress Dowager Alexandra Feodorovna in 1856-1857. Plans drawn up by the architect of the imperial court M. Koudinoff, modified by the architect Barraya. The decoration design of the iconostasis was provided by N.N. Gornostaieff, the icons painted by I.L. Vassiliev.
