Hôtel-palace construit pour Henri Ruhl par les architectes Charles Dalmas, de Nice, et Marcellin Mayère, de Cannes. Comptant 355 chambres ou appartements, il est édifié de 1909 à 1910 et de 1912 à 1913. La façade est revêtue d'un enduit bicolore en fausse pierre, avec un décor moulé en ciment. L'hôtel est partiellement transformé en hôpital durant la Première Guerre mondiale, mais continue à servir d'hôtel durant la Deuxième Guerre. Il est lié au monde du cinéma depuis la création du Festival de Cannes en 1946.

Hotel-palace built for Henri Ruhl by the architects Charles Dalmas, of Nice, and Marcellin Mayère, of Cannes. Comprising 355 rooms or apartments, it was built from 1909 to 1910 and from 1912 to 1913. The façade is covered with bicoloured render in imitation stone, with decoration moulded in cement. The hotel was partially converted into a hospital during the First World War, but continued to serve as a hotel during the Second World War.
