Historique
Construite au 13e siècle ou dans la première moitié du siècle suivant, la chapelle actuelle fut enrichie en 1451 d'un somptueux décor peint, dont la date et le commanditaire nous sont révélés par une inscription, mais dont l'artiste, sans doute piémontais, demeure anonyme. Ces peintures à la détrempe recouvrent un décor plus ancien, dont subsistent des vestiges. La chapelle comporte une large nef à charpente apparente, prolongée par deux absides inégales voûtées en cul-de-four et flanquée au sud par un clocher à flèche de pierre probablement plus tardif et par un bâtiment perpendiculaire ajouté au milieu du 16e siècle, l'ancien presbytère. Le décor occupe les deux absides, la niche centrale surmontée d'un baldaquin, le mur oriental de la nef et une partie du mur latéral nord. History
Built in the 13th century or in the first half of the following century, the present chapel was enriched in 1451 with sumptuous painted decoration, whose date and patron are revealed to us by an inscription, but whose artist, probably Piedmontese, remains anonymous. These tempera paintings cover older decoration, of which vestiges remain. The chapel comprises a wide nave with exposed roof structure, extended by two unequal apses vaulted with cul-de-four and flanked to the south by a bell tower with stone spire probably of later date and by a perpendicular building added in the middle of the 16th century, the former presbytery. The decoration occupies the two apses, the central niche surmounted by a baldachin, the eastern wall of the nave and part of the northern side wall. The subjects treated are: the story of Saint-Erige, Christ surrounded by the Tetrarch, the story of Saint-Denis, the story of Mary Magdalene, as well as saints, apostles, ...
