Historique
La Bastide du Roy date du 18e siècle. Elle est acquise par le comte et la comtesse Jean de Polignac. L'intérieur de la bastide est restauré en 1927 par l'architecte Louis Sue. La suite de jardins entourant la bastide est commandée à l'architecte-paysager Jean-Claude-Nicolas Forestier. Réalisé de 1927 à 1929, cet ensemble comporte sept jardins distincts, séparés par des haies ou de fortes différences de niveaux : un jardin dit "jaune et blanc" ou "espagnol", un théâtre de verdure, un grand parterre géométrique, un mail planté de tilleuls, un parterre de santolines, un escalier bordé de cyprès et une terrasse d'honneur. Il s'agit de l'une des dernières oeuvres de Forestier, et son unique création en région Provence - Alpes-Côte d'Azur.

History
The Bastide du Roy dates from the 18th century. It was acquired by Count and Countess Jean de Polignac. The interior of the bastide was restored in 1927 by architect Louis Sue. The suite of gardens surrounding the bastide was commissioned to landscape architect Jean-Claude-Nicolas Forestier. Realised from 1927 to 1929, this ensemble comprises seven distinct gardens, separated by hedges or significant changes in level: a garden called "yellow and white" or "Spanish", a theatre of greenery, a large geometric parterre, a mall planted with lime trees, a parterre of santolines, a staircase bordered by cypresses and a terrace of honour. This is one of the last works of Forestier, and his only creation in the Provence - Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.
