Historique
Château accroché à la montagne, construit de 1903 à 1913 par B. Ramelli, architecte originaire de Lugano (Suisse italienne) , pour Louis Fortoul, négociant ayant fait fortune au Mexique, fondateur du grand magasin de nouveautés "Las Fabricas de Francia" à Guadalajara. Le château est construit dans un style médiéval de fantaisie. Le vitrail de la baie d'escalier, représentant des scènes courtoises et chevaleresques dans un style troubadour à l'unisson du programme architectural, est signé par le maître-verrier grenoblois Louis Balmet. Aux angles du plafond du salon, et au-dessus de sa porte d'entrée, les sculptures en terre cuite sont l'oeuvre de Clodion (1713-1814) , sculpteur très apprécié à la fin du 19e siècle.

History
Castle clinging to the mountain, constructed from 1903 to 1913 by B. Ramelli, architect from Lugano (Italian Switzerland), for Louis Fortoul, merchant who made his fortune in Mexico, founder of the great novelty store "Las Fabricas de Francia" in Guadalajara. The castle is constructed in a style of mediaeval fantasy. The stained glass window of the stair opening, representing courtly and chivalrous scenes in a troubadour style in keeping with the architectural programme, is signed by the Grenoble master glassmaker Louis Balmet. At the angles of the salon ceiling, and above its entrance door, the terracotta sculptures are the work of Clodion (1713-1814), a sculptor greatly appreciated at the end of the 19th century.
