Historique
La ville médiévale de Beaumont-sur-Oise s'est organisée et structurée autour de son château primitif. Dès le 10e siècle, système féodal associant donjon, collégiale castrale et église paroissiale. Cette place forte fut détruite et reconstruite à plusieurs reprises au cours des siècles. Une évolution architecturale du site est lisible allant du 10e au 17e siècle. Des tours et leur enceinte du 13e siècle entourent le large donjon du 12e siècle, rectangulaire, à contreforts obliques et présentant une chapelle absidiale. Une collégiale carolingienne a subsisté. Une nouvelle église est construite au 12e siècle, qui deviendra le prieuré Saint-Léonor. Elle sera abattue après avoir été vendue comme bien national pendant la Révolution. L'ensemble n'est plus qu'une ruine au 19e siècle. Le site est fouillé depuis 1984.

History
The medieval town of Beaumont-sur-Oise organized and structured itself around its original château. From the 10th century, feudal system associating keep, castle collegiate church and parish church. This stronghold was destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries. An architectural evolution of the site is readable from the 10th to the 17th century. Towers and their enclosure from the 13th century surround the large rectangular keep from the 12th century, with oblique buttresses and presenting an apsidal chapel. A Carolingian collegiate church survived. A new church is built in the 12th century, which will become the priory of Saint-Léonor. It will be demolished after being sold as national property during the Revolution. The complex is no more than a ruin in the 19th century. The site has been excavated since 1984.
