Historique
L'église tire son nom d'une église dédiée à Saint-Denis, située le long de la Strata gallo-romaine. Elle servait de mausolée à Saint-Denis et à ses compagnons Rustique et Eleuthère ; leur corps furent transportés à l'abbaye en 623. L'église actuelle a été construite par Viollet-le-Duc (première pierre posée le 20 avril 1864, édifice béni le 10 juin 1866). L'église est précédée d'un clocher-porche ; la nef comprend un vaisseau central à six travées flanquées de bas-côtés ; le transept est saillant ; le choeur a un chevet polygonal à sa base, plat dans sa partie supérieure. Un escalier derrière le choeur mène à la crypte qui abrite une chapelle affectée à l'église polonaise. Les vitraux, exécutés en 1866 par M. History
The church takes its name from a church dedicated to Saint-Denis, situated along the Strata gallo-romaine. It served as a mausoleum to Saint-Denis and his companions Rustique and Eleuthère; their bodies were transported to the abbey in 623. The present church was constructed by Viollet-le-Duc (foundation stone laid on 20 April 1864, building blessed on 10 June 1866). The church is preceded by a porch tower; the nave comprises a central vessel at six bays flanked by aisles; the transept is projecting; the choir has a polygonal chevet at its base, flat in its upper part. A staircase behind the choir leads to the crypt which houses a chapel assigned to the Polish church. The stained glass windows, executed in 1866 by M. Oudinot under the direction of Viollet-le-Duc, have disappeared and have been replaced by modern stained glass windows.
