Château construit de 1563 à 1570 par Gaspard de Saulx-Tavannes, compagnon d'armes de François Ier. Vendu comme bien national à la Révolution, le château reste propriété privée jusqu'en 1936, date à laquelle il est acquis par la caisse de réassurance agricole contre les accidents de l'est, avant d'être donné à l'Etat par arrêté du 28 mars 1963. Ce château, témoin de la richesse architecturale de la Renaissance bourguignonne et champenoise, a été édifié à partir d'un ancien château de plaine comprenant un massif donjon de plan barlong du début du 14e siècle et un ensemble de courtines et de corps de logis dessinant un trapèze irrégulier flanqué à ses angles de tours rondes.

History
Castle built from 1563 to 1570 by Gaspard de Saulx-Tavannes, companion-in-arms of Francis I. Sold as national property at the Revolution, the castle remains private property until 1936, date at which it was acquired by the agricultural mutual insurance fund against accidents in the east, before being given to the State by decree of 28 March 1963. This castle, a witness to the architectural richness of Burgundian and Champenois Renaissance, was built starting from an old lowland castle comprising a massive oblong-plan donjon from the early 14th century and a set of curtain walls and dwelling blocks forming an irregular trapezoid flanked at its angles by round towers.
