Historique
Le peintre dorigine japonaise Tsugouharu Foujita sest converti en 1959 à la religion catholique, à la suite dune expérience mystique vécue à la basilique Saint-Rémi de Reims. Prenant à cette occasion le prénom de Léonard, il a exprimé le désir de décorer cette chapelle. Celle-ci, édifiée en 1966 sur un terrain offert par René Lalou, directeur de la maison de champagne Mumm, est dessinée dans un style dinspiration romane. La décoration est entièrement conçue par Foujita, qui a fourni les dessins et maquettes des vitraux et des sculptures. Lintérieur est orné de fresques réalisées directement par lartiste et utilisant la technique traditionnelle « a fresco ». Inaugurée le 18 octobre 1966, la chapelle a été remise à la ville de Reims.

History
The painter of Japanese origin Tsugouharu Foujita converted in 1959 to the Catholic religion, following a mystical experience lived at the basilica of Saint-Rémi in Reims.
