Historique
Décor illustre de la bataille de Valmy, détruit le jour même (20 septembre 1792) et victime du sort de tous les postes d'observation, le moulin de Valmy symbolisa aussitôt la liberté des peuples. Réduit à une stèle où fut déposé le coeur de Kellermann, il fut reconstruit, puis détruit en 1831 ; il retrouva sa place à la veille de la Deuxième Guerre mondiale, après une souscription nationale. Un moulin pivot venu d'Attiches (Nord) y fut transféré et remonté entre 1939 et 1947. Ce moulin a été abattu par la tempête de décembre 1999 et sera prochainement reconstruit. Monument commémoratif réalisé par le sculpteur Barrau.

History
Decor illustrating the Battle of Valmy, destroyed on the same day (20 September 1792) and victim to the fate of all observation posts, the Valmy mill immediately symbolised the freedom of peoples. Reduced to a stele where Kellermann's heart was laid, it was reconstructed, then destroyed in 1831; it regained its place on the eve of the Second World War, after a national subscription. A pivot mill from Attiches (Nord) was transferred there and reassembled between 1939 and 1947. This mill was felled by the December 1999 storm and will soon be reconstructed. Commemorative monument created by sculptor Barrau.
