Historique
L'élément le plus ancien des fortifications est la porte de Bourgogne, du début du 13e siècle ; elle a conservé son aspect ancien. Les fortifications ont été modifiées entre la fin du 15e siècle et le milieu du 17e siècle : 1/ Construction d'un bastion pourvu de casemates en avant de la porte de Bourgogne dans la deuxième moitié du 16e siècle. 2/ La grosse tour, destinée à l'artillerie, a été construite vers 1510 ; seule la partie basse est conservée ; elle possède un plan en fer à cheval et une rampe qui permet de descendre du rempart dans la partie basse de la tour. 3/ De la tour Couaillote, également tour d'artillerie, ne subsistent que les assises inférieures. 4/ La tour Saint-Jérôme, pendant de la tour de la Couaillote, est un ouvrage moins important que la grosse tour ; son parement extérieur a disparu et la tour est entièrement remblayée.

The oldest element of the fortifications is the gate of Bourgogne, from the early 13th century; it has retained its ancient aspect.
