Kuvaus
Marieforsin ruukki on yksi maamme yhtenäisistä rautateollisuusalueista.
Padon yhteyteen on 1932-33 rakennettu voimalaitos.
Kosken itärannalla on pääosa ruukin tehdasrakennuksista, joiden rungon muodostavat kaksi joensuuntaista 1898-99 rakennettua punatiilistä pitkää rakennusta. Kosken länsirannalla, hieman kauempana rantapenkereen päällä, vanhempien tehdasrakennusten kaakkoispuolella, on komea funktionalistinen, betonirakenteinen, kolmikerroksinen meijeriastiatehdas ns. Lasipalatsi vuodelta 1938.
Marieforsin muun rakennuskannan keskipisteenä on hirsinen, taitekattoinen ruukinkirkko.
Ruukinkartanon maille perustettu Kellokosken sairaala on maan toiseksi vanhin piirimielisairaala. Puistomaisessa ympäristössä on sairaala- ja asuinrakennuksia eri vuosikymmeniltä, vanhin on Sebastian Gripenbergin suunnittelema, 1884 rakennettu kartanon kaksikerroksinen päärakennus, jota on 1915 laajennettu kaksikerroksisilla siivillä ja korotettu 1930-luvulla. Sairaalamiljööseen kuuluu myös erilaisia maatilatalouteen liittyviä rakennuksia.
Historia
1980-luvun alkuun mennessä loppui teollinen toiminta laajemmassa mitassa Kellokoskella.
Valtio uudisti mielisairaanhoitoa 1800-luvun puolivälistä alkaen. Ensimmäinen piirimielisairaala perustettiin Harjavaltaan 1903. Uudellamaalla suunniteltiin sairaalan perustamista 1900-luvun vaihteesta alkaen. Henkilökunnan asuinkerrostalo on 1950-luvulta.

Description
The Mariefors ironworks is one of the country's few cohesive ironworks areas. At Mariefors, the functional grouping and extent of the buildings have remained largely the same as at the beginning of the 19th century. The main building of the old Mariefors ironworks manor and its manor grounds house Kellokoski Hospital, the country's second piirimielisairaala, which is linked to the ironworks not only historically but also in its landscape setting.
The industrial buildings at Mariefors, mainly dating from the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century, lie in a deep, narrow river valley. The dam that crosses the rapids is high, and above it lies a fairly large reservoir. The power station was built in connection with the dam in 1932-33.
On the eastern bank of the rapids are most of the ironworks' factory buildings, whose framework is formed by two long red-brick buildings running parallel to the river, built in 1898-99. On the western bank of the rapids, somewhat farther away on top of the riverbank embankment and southeast of the older factory buildings, stands the impressive functionalist, concrete-framed, three-storey dairy tableware factory known as "Lasipalatsi", dating from 1938. Between the "Lasipalatsi" and the other industrial buildings there is a relatively low row of mainly brick buildings, which is important for the ironworks landscape and includes storehouses and a tinaamo. In the old ironworks buildings, small industrial enterprises operate.
Southeast of the industrial buildings, on top of the riverbank embankment, are the newer Mariefors ironworks manor and the office building. The central point of the rest of the Mariefors building stock is the log-built, mansard-roofed ironworks church. West of the church, around a wide field, are the ironworks workers' housing. All surviving buildings are barracks intended for several households. On the site of the present Kellokoski Hospital there are no longer any ironworks buildings.
Kellokoski Hospital is situated in a park-like setting on the eastern bank of the Keravanjoki, northeast of the Kellokoski factories. Kellokoski Hospital, established on the land of the ironworks manor, is the country's second oldest piirimielisairaala. The park-like setting contains hospital and residential buildings from different decades; the oldest is the two-storey main building of the manor, designed by Sebastian Gripenberg and built in 1884, which was extended in 1915 with two-storey wings and raised in the 1930s. The hospital environment also includes various buildings related to farm operations.
History
In May 1795 the Board of Mines granted Captain Lars Falck permission to move a hammer and two hearths from the Forsby ironworks to Kellokoski in Tuusula. The same year Falck sold the ironworks privilege to war commissary Lars Olof Nystén, who actually built the Mariefors ironworks.
In 1865 the ironworks was converted into a limited company, Mariefors Bruks Aktiebolag. The company went bankrupt in 1880 and passed into the ownership of Wolter Ramsay.
In 1896 managing director C. F. Carlander and engineer Vilh. Peterzon moved the factory they had founded, which made iron products and dairy vessels, from rented premises at the Bjökboda ironworks to Kellokoski. The company manufactured iron products, dairy vessels and, among other things, aluminium boats until the 1960s, when the factory passed into the ownership of Oy Fiskars Ab. Its main products became, among other things, barrels and waste-sack stands. By the early 1980s, industrial activity on a larger scale had ended at Kellokoski.
From the mid-19th century the state reformed mental health care. The first district mental hospital was founded at Harjavalta in 1903. In Uusimaa, plans to establish a hospital began at the turn of the 20th century. In 1911 the site chosen was a manor separated from the Mariefors ironworks in the 1860s, which was for sale. The main building was considered suitable for the purpose after alterations and extensions. The decision to build was made in 1913. The main building of the manor was extended with two-storey wings, and the hospital gained 90 patient places. The new main building, built in 1930-31, was designed by E.A.Kranck, who also designed care buildings in the 1910s. A five-storey residential and utility building was built in 1935-36. In addition, in the 1930s an office and residential houses for doctors were built in the area to designs by architect Toivo Jänti. The staff residential block dates from the 1950s.
