Kuvaus
Putkivaaran on tiiviisti rakentunut, hyvin sekä kylärakenteensa että rakennuskantansa osalta säilynyt vaarakylä. Kylä rakennukset jaukautuvat kahteen ryhmään, joiden välissä on rakentamattomana säilynyt viljelyaukea Putkivaaran laella. Vaaran alarinteessä on Simojärven rannassa kylän kansakoulu. Kylästä avautuvat metsäiset vaaramaisemat järven yli.
Historia
Putkivaaran asuttaminen liittyy Ranuan asuttamisen toiseen vaiheeseen, joka alkoi 1700-luvun puolivälissä ja jatkui 1800-luvun alkuun. Putkivaaraan perustettiin kaksi kantataloa ennen 1850-luvun puoliväliä, Putkivaara 1800 ja Nurmela 1848.

Description
Putkivaara is a densely built hill village, well preserved in both its village layout and its building stock. The village buildings are divided into two groups, between which an undeveloped cultivated clearing has been preserved on the top of Putkivaara hill. On the lower slope of the hill, on the shore of Simojärvi, is the village kansakoulu. From the village, wooded hill landscapes open out across the lake.
History
The settlement of Putkivaara is linked to the second phase of the settlement of Ranua, which began in the mid-18th century and continued into the early 19th century. Two founding farms were established in Putkivaara before the mid-1850s: Putkivaara 1800 and Nurmela 1848.
