The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Keskellä viljelymaisemaa on autioitunut kylätontti.

The Suontaan village cultivated landscape reflects the agrarian history and building tradition of the Uusimaa prosperous rural parish's villages, which date from the Middle Ages. The farm centres of Suontaan Hovi and the former rusthollin Yli-Knuutila reflect the settlement pattern that followed the General Partition (isojako) of the 18th century. The building stock took shape in the period between the General Partition and the model farm period of the early 20th century.

The cultivated landscape shows how cultivation in the traditional farming period adapted to the constraints set by the soil and other natural conditions.

The settlement landscape of Suontaan village is dominated by the Suontaan water meadow and the fields surrounding it. In the middle of the cultivated landscape is a deserted village site. On the edges of the cultivated landscape are the farmstead centres of Suontaan Hovi and Yli-Knuutila. The road network of the area follows 18th-century alignments, possibly older ones as well.

The Suontaa flood meadow was one of the best meadows in the district, with meadow holdings in the villages surrounding Kirkkojärvi.

The farms of the village moved from the middle of the field clearing to its edges in connection with the isojako. The oldest parts of the main building of Suontaa Hovi date from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, and the building was raised in the 1920s. The eastern wing building is a väentupa from the 18th century, and the western one is a luhtiaitta.

The main building of Yli-Knuutila was built after the isojako, in 1777. The syytinkirakennus, luhtiaitta, grain storehouse and stable are from the 1830s, and the brick cowshed from the 1920s was designed by architect Heikki Siikonen. In the mid-19th century, a tile and earthenware factory operated in Suontaa for ten years.
