The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Kylän neljäs talo, Äijälän tila, on viljelyaukean reunassa, muista taloista muutamia satoja metrejä kaakkoon. Tervamäen kylässä perinteistä rakennuskantaa edustavat Kahnun, Turpan ja Holpin päärakennukset, Yliskallon entinen kansakoulu vuodelta 1897 sekä 1914 rakennettu rukoushuone.

Eskolan ja Tervamäen kylät asutettiin varhaiskeskiajalla. Karkun seurakuntaan kuuluneen Mouhijärven ensimmäisen kappelin on arveltu sijainneen 1500-luvun lopulla Eskolan eli Yliskallon kylässä. Eskolan kylän talot Simo, Märri, Tullu ja Äijälä mainittiin hopeaveroluettelossa 1571. Tervamäessä oli samaan aikaan kuusi taloa. Mouhijärven kappeliseurakunnan itsenäistyttyä omaksi seurakunnaksi 1639 ensimmäinen kirkko rakennettiin järven toiselle puolelle perustetun Selkeen kartanon maille.

The early medieval settlement pattern of the upper Satakunta villages of Eskola and Tervamäki, with its compact group-village structure predating the isojako, and the historical cultivated landscape bounded by forests and hills have been well preserved.

The villages of Eskola and Tervamäki are situated on an isthmus between two lakes, and around them stretch open fields that have been cultivated for centuries.

In the Eskola group village, a remarkably large amount of old building stock has survived in the farmyards of Tullu, Simo and Märri, which are among the oldest farms of Mouhijärvi. The village's fourth house, Äijälä farm, lies at the edge of the cultivated open field, a few hundred metres south-east of the other houses. In the village of Tervamäki, traditional building stock is represented by the main buildings of Kahnu, Turpa and Holppi, the former Yliskallo kansakoulu of 1897, and the prayer house built in 1914.

The villages of Eskola and Tervamäki were settled in the Early Middle Ages. The first chapel of Mouhijärvi, which belonged to the Karkku parish, is thought to have been located at the end of the 16th century in the village of Eskola, also known as Yliskallo. The Eskola village farms of Simo, Märri, Tullu and Äijälä were mentioned in the hopeaveroluettelo of 1571. Six farms existed in Tervamäki at the same time. After the chapel congregation of Mouhijärvi became an independent parish in 1639, the first church was built on the lands of the Selke manor, which had been established on the opposite side of the lake.
