The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Tapulin nykyasu on peräisin Jaakko Kuorikosken myöhemmästä muutostyöstä.

Tasavartinen, ulkoviisteinen ristikirkko on rakennettu Matti Hongan johdolla 1765. Ristikeskuksesta kohoaa matalalta jalustalta oktogonin muotoinen lyhty. Erillinen, puinen kellotapuli on kirkon ikäinen, mutta muutettu nykyiseen asuunsa 1840-luvulla Jaakko Kuorikosken johdolla.

Kirkon ympärillä on laaja hautausmaa-alue. Sen etelärannalla on alue, jota on käytetty lasten hautaamiseen 1932-1950. Kirkkopolku johtaa venevalkamaan, jonne aikoinaan on tultu kirkkoveneillä. Venetalas on rakennettu 1949 Ilmari Wirkkalan suunnitelmin.

Nykyinen kirkko on seurakunnan toinen. Itsenäisen seurakunnan aseman Lappajärvi sai 1812.

Lappajärven kirkko ja tapuli rakennettiin Matti Hongan johdolla 1765. Tapuli sai nykyisen ulkoasunsa 1840-luvulla.

Lappajärveläiset haudattiin 1600-luvulla Pietarsaaren hautausmaalle. Vasta 1800-luvulla kirkon ympärille kasvoi hautausmaa.

The Kirkkoniemi church site in Lappajärvi, with its church, bell tower and cemetery, is a visually impressive church environment that took shape in the Ostrobothnian lake district at the end of the 18th century. The church and bell tower were built by Matti Honka, a well-known Ostrobothnian church builder. The bell tower's present appearance is the result of a later alteration work by Jaakko Kuorikoski.

The equal-armed, externally chamfered cruciform church was built under the direction of Matti Honka in 1765. Above the crossing rises an octagonal lantern on a low plinth. The separate, wooden bell tower is the same age as the church but was altered to its present form in the 1840s under Jaakko Kuorikoski.

Around the church is an extensive cemetery area. On its southern edge is an area that was used for burying children in 1932-1950. The Kirkkopolku path leads to the boat landing, where in former times people arrived by church boats. The boathouse was built in 1949 to designs by Ilmari Wirkkala. In addition to the church boat, it reportedly houses the supporting log of the old church of 1637. The mortuary on the cemetery grounds was converted from an old winter burial building and enlarged into a mortuary in 1967.

Lappajärvi was a chapel parish of Pietarsaari from 1637. The first church was built the same year at Palavanniemi, which was still an island at that time. The present church is the parish's second. Lappajärvi received the status of an independent parish in 1812.

Lappajärvi Church and its bell tower were built under the direction of Matti Honka in 1765. The bell tower received its present appearance in the 1840s.

People from Lappajärvi were buried in the 17th century in the Pietarsaari cemetery. Only in the 19th century did a cemetery grow up around the church.
