The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Nivalan Köyhänperän latoaalue, jolla on noin 40 latoa pienellä alalla, edustaa harvinaistunutta Pohjanmaan viljelyslakeuksia aikoinaan leimannutta rakennettua maisematyyppiä. Latoalue muodostaa yhtenäisen ja harvinaisen kokonaisuuden.

Köyhänperän alue on Nivalan maisemaa leimaavan laajan maanviljelyslakeuden koillislaidalla liittyen kahteen tilakokonaisuuteen.

Köyhänperän ladot on kunnostettiin Kalajokilaakson kulttuurimaisema-projektin yhteydessä.

The Köyhänperä granary area in Nivala, with some 40 granaries in a small area, represents a rare built landscape type that once characterised the cultivated plains of Ostrobothnia. The granary area forms a cohesive and unusual whole.

The Köyhänperä area lies on the northeastern edge of the extensive agricultural plain that characterises the landscape of Nivala, and is linked to two farm complexes. The granaries are, in the traditional manner, tapering upwards. Alongside new sheet-metal roofs, a few wooden roofs remain.

Köyhänperä adjoins the nationally valuable landscape area of Kalajokilaakso.

The Köyhänperä ladot were restored in connection with the Kalajokilaakso cultural landscape project.
