The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Oitti on Suomen toiseksi vanhimman, Riihimäki-Pietari -rataosuuden tyypillinen asema, jolla on säilynyt puisen asemarakennuksen lisäksi useita asuin- ja talousrakennuksia. Asuinrakennukset edustavat arkkitehtuuriltaan rautatieläisten eri ammattiryhmien asumiskulttuuria.

Asemarakennuksen koillispuolelle sijoittuu makasiinirakennus 1930-luvulta ja tiilinen maakellari. Asemapuistossa on kaksoisvahtitupa, alueen yhteinen saunarakennus sekä asemapäällikön jugendtyylinen asuinrakennus. Viimeisenä asuinpihana on virkailijoiden asuintalo. Alueen perällä on uusi asemapäällikön talo 1950-luvulta.

Oitin rautatieasema rakennettiin III luokan aseman tyyppipiirustusten mukaan Riihimäki-Pietari -radalle. Asemarakennus valmistui 1869. Asemaa laajennettiin vuosina 1876 ja 1917. Rautatien rakentaminen vaikutti voimakkaasti Oitin kehitykseen; kylän painopiste siirtyi vanhalta kylätontilta aseman suuntaan, johon syntyi asutusta ja tiiliteollisuutta.

Radan rakentamisen aikaan vallinnut nälänhätä edesauttoi tautien leviämistä ja ratatyöläisiä kuoli paljon. Hausjärven Syväojan nummelle perustettiin rautatien hautausmaa.

Oitti is a typical station of the Riihimäki-Pietari line section, the second oldest in Finland. In addition to the wooden station building, it has preserved several residential and outbuildings. The residential buildings architecturally represent the housing culture of different occupational groups of railway workers.

To the north-east of the station building is a storehouse building from the 1930s and a brick earth cellar. In the station park there is a double guard house, a sauna building shared by the area, and the station master's Jugend-style residential building. The last residential yard contains the officials' residential house. At the end of the area is a new station master's house from the 1950s.

Oitti railway station was built to class III station standard drawings on the Riihimäki-Pietari line. The station building was completed in 1869. The station was extended in 1876 and 1917. The construction of the railway had a strong effect on the development of Oitti: the centre of the village shifted from the old village site towards the station, where settlement and brick industry arose.

The famine prevailing during the construction of the railway helped the spread of diseases, and many railway workers died. A railway cemetery was established on the Syväoja heath in Hausjärvi.
