The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Kiuruveden asemarakennus on komea mansardikattoinen, osin kaksikerroksinen, 1920-luvun rautatierakennus.

Asema-alueella on kaksi asuinrakennusta talousrakennuksineen ja vesitorni. Asemarakennuksen lähellä on kaivo koristeellisine kansirakennelmineen.

Ensimmäisen kerran ratahankkeet sivusivat Kiuruvettä 1880-luvulla poikittaisratoja suunniteltaessa. Seuraavan kerran Kiuruvesi tuli ajankohtaiseksi suunniteltaessa Savon radan jatkamista Kuopiosta pohjoiseen 1890-luvulla. Kuntakokous päätti 1899 anoa poikkiradan rakentamista Iisalmesta Ylivieskaan, mutta yhdysrata ratkaistiin vasta 1909 valtiopäivillä. Töiden alkaminen sai odottaa vuoteen 1917, jolloin vapautui rautatietyövoimaa muilta ratatyömailta. Rata valmistui 1925, mutta Kiuruvesi-Iisalmi osuutta liikennöitiin jo vuonna 1923. Kiuruvedeltä vietiin etupäässä puutavaraa ja karjataloustuotteita.

The Kiuruvesi station building is a handsome, mansard-roofed, partly two-storey railway building from the 1920s.

The station area has two residential buildings with outbuildings and a water tower.

Near the station building is a well with decorative cover structures.

Railway projects first touched on Kiuruvesi in the 1880s, when cross lines were being planned. Kiuruvesi next became topical in the 1890s, when extending the Savo line north from Kuopio was being planned. In 1899 the municipal meeting decided to apply for the construction of a cross line from Iisalmi to Ylivieska, but the connecting line was not settled until 1909 at the Diet. The start of work had to wait until 1917, when railway labour was released from other track construction sites. The line was completed in 1925, but the Kiuruvesi-Iisalmi section was already in operation in 1923. From Kiuruvesi, mainly timber and livestock farming products were transported.
