The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Rovaniemen radan Hirvaan rautatiepysäkki on yksi harvoja sodan tuhoilta säilyneitä Lapin rautatiealueita.

Entisen pysäkin rakennuskantaan kuuluu pysäkkirakennuksen lisäksi asuintalo talousrakennuksineen. Rakennusryhmä on metsäisellä rataosuudella lähellä Kemijoen rannassa sijaitsevaa Hirvaan metsäoppilaitosta, mistä johtaa pysäkille koivukuja.

Kemi-Rovaniemi -rautatien rakentamissuunnitelma hyväksyttiin 1906 ja rata valmistui 1909. Rovaniemen rataosuudella oli 1910 viisi asemaa ja kolme seisakelaituria eli pysäkkiä, joista yksi on Hirvas.

Vähän ennen radan rakentamista, vuonna 1905, Hirvaalle perustettiin metsänvartijakoulu. Koulun oppilaat hankkivat metsähallituksen myöntämän määrärahan turvin puutavaraa rautatien tarpeisiin. Koulu rakennutti pysäkille johtavan 500 metrin pituisen tien ja istutti koivukujan 1913. Koivukuja uusittiin 1970-luvulla.

The Hirvaa railway halt on the Rovaniemi railway is one of the few railway sites in Lapland to have survived the destruction of the war.

The building stock of the former halt includes, in addition to the halt building, a residential house with its outbuildings. The group of buildings lies on a forested stretch of the line near the Hirvaa forestry school, which is situated on the bank of the Kemijoki river. A birch avenue leads from the school to the halt.

The construction plan for the Kemi-Rovaniemi railway was approved in 1906, and the line was completed in 1909. On the Rovaniemi section of the line there were five stations in 1910, and three seisakelaituri, i.e. halts, one of which is Hirvas.

Shortly before the railway was built, in 1905, a forest ranger school was established at Hirvas. The school's pupils, using a grant allocated by Metsähallitus, procured timber for the railway's needs. The school had a road 500 metres long leading to the halt built, and planted a birch avenue in 1913. The birch avenue was renewed in the 1970s.
