Kuvaus
Viinijärven rautatieasemalla on monipuolinen ja yhtenäinen rakennuskanta, josta suurin osa on aseman perustamisajalta vuosilta 1926-1927.
Asemarakennuksen lisäksi Viinijärven rautatieaseman kokonaisuuteen kuuluu kaksoisvahtitupa, tavaramakasiini, vesitorni sekä asuinrakennuksia talousrakennuksineen. Viinijärven risteysaseman kautta on kuljetettu Outokummun kaivosalueen malmi Joensuuhun.
Historia

Description
Viinijärvi railway station has a varied and uniform building stock, most of which dates from the founding period of the station, 1926-1927.
In addition to the station building, the Viinijärvi railway station ensemble includes a double watchman's cottage, a goods storehouse, a water tower and residential buildings with their outbuildings. Ore from the Outokumpu mine area has been transported to Joensuu via the Viinijärvi junction station.
History
In 1926 Parliament decided to build a standard-gauge line from Joensuu to the Outokumpu copper mine at Kuusjärvi. The line ran through the municipality of Liperi, and four station sites were built there, of which Viinijärvi was the second proper station. The line was completed in 1928 and was extended towards Varkaus just before the wars of 1939, but was opened to traffic only in the autumn of 1940.
