Kaddin kalastustukikohta syntyi avomerikalastuksen tukikohdaksi.

The fishing lodges of Kaddi are bases for offshore fishing and seal hunting, reflecting a livelihood that became rare in coastal areas.

On the small southern Kaddi islands of the Oura island group in the Merikarvia sea area, eight fishing huts have survived, with their shore rooms, jetties, bridges, net poles and smoking ovens.

The fishing huts on Iso Kaddi and Pikku Kaddi have served as bases for offshore fishing and seal hunting, such as those found along the Gulf of Bothnia coast, including Ohtakari in Lohtaja, Kallankarit in Kalajoki and Krunnit on Perämeri.

The oldest fishing huts date from the 19th century. They are log-framed buildings comprising a room and a tupa, set on corner stones and lined with upright boards, peiterimat and flat boards. The gabled buildings were originally roofed with birch bark and boards.

Kaddin kalastustukikohta came into being as a base for open-sea fishing. It has been in use already in the first years of the 19th century at least.
