The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Ison-Röyhiön Alaskylässä on säilynyt tiivis kylätontti, johon liittyy poikkeuksellisen laaja tienvarren mökkiasutus.

Iso-Röyhiön kylän alue on Itä-Ikaalisten vanhinta asutusmaisemaa ja siellä on ollut asutusta jo rautakaudella. Kylän luoteispuolella on rautakautinen kalmisto ja eteläpuolella Majoosselän rannalla kohoaa Arasalon muinainen linnavuori, jonka laella on havaittavissa kivivallien jäännöksiä.

Iso-Röyhiön Alaskylä on rakentunut tyypilliseen hämäläiseen tapaan ryhmäkyläksi. Kylärakenteeltaan se on seudun parhaiten säilyneitä. Talot ovat tiiviinä rykelmänä kyläraitin varrella Kyrösjärven rannalla.

Kyläraitin ja maantien risteyksessä on säilynyt vanha kaupparakennus. Ison-Iidun tilan asuinrakennukset 1800-luvun lopulta ovat hyvin säilyneitä. Lisäksi tilalla on harmaakivinen navetta, vanha puotirakennus sekä kolme aittaa. Pentin tilalla on kaksi punamullattua asuinrakennusta, joista toisessa on koristeellinen umpikuisti, sekä kivinavetta ja suuri hirsinen viljamakasiini.

Kylän pohjoisosassa, Luhalahdentien varrella, on poikkeuksellisen paljon entisiä mäkitupalaisten asumuksia.

Iso-Röyhiön kylän kaupparakennus valmistui 1800-luvun lopulla. Ison-Iidun asuinrakennukset valmistuivat 1871 ja 1895, navetta 1900-luvun alussa. Tilan aitoista vanhin valmistui 1760-luvulla. Pentin asuinrakennukset valmistuivat 1860, kivinavetta 1897 ja viljamakasiini 1870.

The Alaskylä village of Ison-Röyhiö has preserved a compact village site, to which an exceptionally extensive roadside cottage settlement is attached.

The Iso-Röyhiö village area is the oldest settled landscape in Itä-Ikaalinen, and there has been settlement there since the Iron Age. On the north-west side of the village is an Iron Age cemetery, and to the south, on the shore of Majoosselkä, rises the ancient hillfort of Arasalo, on whose summit remains of stone ramparts can be observed.

The Alaskylä of Ison-Röyhiö developed, in the typical Hämäläinen manner, as a group village. In its village structure it is one of the best preserved in the district. The houses stand in a tight cluster along the village street on the shore of Kyrösjärvi.

At the junction of the village street and the main road stands an old shop building. The living quarters of the Ison-Iitu farm, dating from the late 19th century, are very well preserved. In addition, the farm has a grey-stone cowshed, an old shop building and three granary storehouses. The Pentti farm has two red-ochre painted living houses, one of which has a decorative enclosed porch, as well as a stone cowshed and a large log grain storehouse.

In the northern part of the village, along Luhalahdentie, there are an exceptionally large number of former mäkitupalainen dwellings.

The store building of Iso-Röyhiö village was completed at the end of the 19th century. The residential buildings of Iso-Iitu were completed in 1871 and 1895, and the cowshed in the early 20th century. The oldest of the farm's granary storehouses was completed in the 1760s. The residential buildings of Pentti were completed in 1860, the stone cowshed in 1897 and the grain storehouse in 1870.
