The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Aurejärven kirkko kellotapuleineen ja porttirakennuksineen on esimerkki vanhan puukirkkoarkkitehtuurin muotoainesten soveltamisesta uudisrakennukseen.

1920-luvulla tehdyn kirkon ulkohahmo ja kirkkosalin sisäseinien tukipilariarkut sidehirsineen viittaavat 1600-luvun tukipilarikirkkoon. Kirkkosalin kolmiapilaholvaus sekä kirkkotarhan pukkitapuli ovat puolestaan saaneet vaikutteita ruotsalaisten kirkkojen vanhaan rakennusperintöön tukeutuvasta 1920-luvun historismista.

Kirkko on suorakaiteen muotoinen pitkäkirkko. Alttaritaulun aiheena on Jeesus siunaamassa lapsia.

Kirkko on myös rakennusteknisesti mielenkiintoinen. Sen seinäkonstruktio perustuu insinööri Väinö Rankan patenttirakenteeseen.

Kellotapuli kirkon vieressä on alaosastaan avoin pukkitapuli, jonka korkea nelilappeinen huippu kellotasoineen on paanutettu. Kokonaisuuteen kuuluva kirkkotarhan aidan jykevä kivestä muurattu porttirakennus on myös paanukattoinen.

Kurun seurakunnan myönnettyä 1920 varoja kirkon ja hautausmaan perustamiseen ja virallisen apulaisen palkkaamiseen Aurejärvelle tilattiin kirkon piirustukset arkkitehti Oiva Kalliolta Helsingistä. Kirkko rakennettiin 1924 vaatimattomaksi rukoushuoneeksi kaukana emäkirkosta olevalle seurakunnan alueelle. Rakennustyö alkoi keväällä 1922 ja kirkko vihittiin käyttöön 1924.

Aurejärvi church, with its bell tower and gate building, is an example of the application of formal elements of old timber church architecture to a new building.

The exterior form of the church, built in the 1920s, and the buttress-pillar arches with tie beams on the interior walls of the nave refer to the 17th-century buttressed church. The trefoil vault of the nave and the trestle bell tower of the churchyard, in turn, were influenced by the 1920s historicism that drew on the old building heritage of Swedish churches.

The church is a rectangular pitkäkirkko. The walls are low, and the steep-pitched tiled roof is hipped at the ends. The low sacristy at the east end of the north wall of the nave and the small vestibule rooms at the entrances repeat the shape of the roof. The interior is rhythmed by buttress-like log arches with tie beams and a clover-leaf vault. All the building parts, with their windows, are executed in a reduced, detailed manner, as are the pulpit and the interior painting. The decorative motifs, ornaments and Bible verses are concentrated on the transverse tie beams. The altarpiece depicts Jesus blessing the children.

The church is also technically interesting in its construction. Its wall structure is based on the patented construction of engineer Väinö Ranka.

The bell tower next to the church is an open trestle structure at its base, and its tall four-pitched top, with its bell stage, is tiled. The sturdy stone-built gate building of the churchyard fence, which belongs to the ensemble, also has a tiled roof.

After the Kuru parish had granted funds in 1920 for establishing a church and cemetery and for hiring an official assistant, the church drawings were ordered for Aurejärvi from architect Oiva Kallio of Helsinki. The church was built in 1924 as a modest prayer house in the parish area far from the mother church. Construction work began in spring 1922, and the church was consecrated for use in 1924.
