The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Olkkajärven ja Olkkalammen välisellä kannaksella sijaitsevat Kenttäharjun ja Keskitalon eli Kenttälän tilojen pihapiirit edustavat peräpohjalaista talonpoikaisrakentamista tyypillisimmillään.

Pihapiireissä on asuinrakennusten lisäksi useita maatalouteen liittyneitä talousrakennuksia. Kenttäharjun päärakennus on noin vuodelta 1860 ja Keskitalon mansardikattoinen päärakennus 1920-luvulta. Kenttäkannaksen alueella on yksi Pohjois-Suomen suurimmista pelto-raunioista. Keskitalon läheisyydessä on myös pohjoisimmalle Suomelle tyypillinen ja tarpeellinen pyramidikattoinen kesänavetta.

Olkkajärven Kenttälän alueella on asuttu jo kivikaudella. Rantaviivan lähellä on ainakin 1600-luvulta alkaen käytetty kalakenttä, mistä on jäljellä kalatupien ja niiden kiukaiden jäänteitä. Perimätiedon mukaan paikalla (”Kenttäniemellä”) on vanha metsäsaamelaisten asuinpaikka. Kenttälän (nykyisin Kenttäharju) uudistila perustettiin 1850-luvulla.

The yards of Kenttäharju and Keskitalo, also known as Kenttälä, situated on the isthmus between Olkkajärvi and Olkkalampi, represent Peräpohjola-type peasant building in its most typical form.

Besides the residential buildings, the yards contain several outbuildings related to farming. The main building of Kenttäharju dates from around 1860, and the mansard-roofed main building of Keskitalo from the 1920s. In the Kenttäkannas area there is one of the largest field ruins in Northern Finland. In the vicinity of Keskitalo there is also a pyramid-roofed summer cowshed, typical of and necessary in the far north of Finland.

The Kenttälä area of Olkkajärvi was inhabited as early as the Stone Age. Near the shoreline there is a fishing field used since at least the 17th century, of which remains of fishing cabins and their stoves survive. According to oral tradition, the site (“Kenttäniemi”) is an old dwelling place of forest Sámi. The new farm of Kenttälä (today Kenttäharju) was established in the 1850s.
