The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Mäntsälän kirkonmäki muodostaa pitäjän kunnalliselämän historiaa edustavan monipuolisen kokonaisuuden, johon kuuluvat kirkko hautausmaineen, lainamakasiinit, entinen pitäjäntupa ja kunnantalo, entinen vanha toriaukio sekä Mäntsälänjoen varrella sijaitseva Mäntsälän kartano.

Kirkonmäkeä hallitsee 1800-luvun lopulla rakennettu tornillinen tiilikirkko. Kirkon ulkomuurit ovat puhtaaksimuurattua tiiltä. Kivimuurin ympäröimällä, useaan otteeseen laajennetulla hautausmaalla on Kuhlefelt- ja Sederholm -sukujen hautakappelit. Ilmari Wirkkalan suunnittelema sankarihautausmaa on vuodelta 1946.

Kirkonmäellä sijaitsevat hirsiset lainamakasiinit ovat peräisin 1800-luvun alusta ja entinen pitäjäntupa vuodelta 1854. Pitäjäntupa on rakennettu Mäntsälän ensimmäiseksi kunnantaloksi. Tiilinen kunnantalo on vuodelta 1936.

Kirkonmäen maisemaan liittyy sen koillispuolella sijaitsevan Mäntsalän kartanon (Karlsberg) talouskeskus. Rakennuksia ympäröi vanha puisto. Puinen päärakennus 1780-luvulta on mansardikattoinen ja pihapiirissä on toinen pienempi asuinrakennus 1700-luvulta.

Mäntsälän kappeli kuului alkuaan Porvoon laajaan emäseurakuntaan. Pienen kappeliseurakunnan ensimmäinen kirkko rakennettiin todennäköisesti 1500- ja 1600-lukujen vaihteessa Mäntsälän kylään mäelle, jolla myöhemmätkin kirkot ovat sijainneet. Mäntsälän nykyinen kirkko rakennettiin 1862-1866. Sen suunnitteli arkkitehti Jean Wik intendentinkonttorissa E.B. Lohrmannin johdolla.

Kirkonmäki forms a diverse ensemble representing the municipal history of the parish, comprising the church with its cemetery, the loan storehouses, the former pitäjäntupa and municipal hall, the former old market square, and Mäntsälä manor located along the Mäntsälänjoki river.

Kirkonmäki is dominated by a brick church with a tower, built at the end of the 19th century. The exterior walls of the church are of fair-faced brick. The cemetery, enclosed by a stone wall and extended several times, contains the burial chapels of the Kuhlefelt and Sederholm families. The heroes' cemetery designed by Ilmari Wirkkala dates from 1946.

The log loan storehouses located at Kirkonmäki date from the early 19th century, and the former pitäjäntupa from 1854. The pitäjäntupa was built as Mäntsälä's first municipal hall. The brick municipal hall dates from 1936.

The landscape of Kirkonmäki includes the farm centre of Mäntsälä manor (Karlsberg), located on its north-eastern side. The buildings are surrounded by an old park. The wooden main building from the 1780s has a mansard roof, and the courtyard contains another, smaller residential building from the 18th century.

Mäntsälä chapel originally belonged to the extensive mother parish of Porvoo. The first church of the small chapelry was probably built at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries, on a hill in the village of Mäntsälä where later churches also stood. The present church of Mäntsälä was built in 1862-1866. It was designed by the architect Jean Wik at the Intendentinkonttori under the direction of E.B. Lohrmann.

The Mäntsälä parish hall was completed in 1854, and the municipal hall in 1936, built by Väinö Siikonen. After its original use ended, the parish hall served, among other things, as a sick house and mortuary, a hostel and a library. It was converted into a local history museum in 1965.

Mäntsälä manor was formed in the 17th century from five farms. The main building was completed in the 1780s, and it received its present appearance during renovations in the 1890s.
