Kuvaus
(Ks. erillinen Reposaaren yhdyskunta -kohde.)
Porin satamien, Mäntyluodon ja Reposaaren, edustalla sijaitseva Kallon saari on historiallisesti merkittävä luotsipaikka. Kallossa olevat merenkulun turvalaitteet sekä luotsiasemat muodostavat ajallisesti monikerroksisen, suhteellisen tiiviin ja hyvin säilyneen rakennuskokonaisuuden. Vilkkaassa satamamiljöössä olevat rakennukset ovat säilyttäneet yhteytensä alkuperäiseen toimintaympäristöönsä.
Kallon majakka koostuu rautaisesta 9,3 metriä korkeasta graniittijalustalle perustetusta loistotornista ja siinä kiinni olevasta puurakennuksesta (1885/1903). Tornissa on kaksi edelleen toimivaa valolaitetta, joista toinen on majakan alkuperäinen diopterinen valolaite. Majakan vieressä on vanha sumumerkinantoasema (1906).
Mäntyluodon satama-alueen meriliikennehistorialliseen kokonaisuuteen uudistuneella satama-alueella kuuluu satamaloistoksi 1903 arkkitehti Gustaf Nyströmin suunnitelmin rakennettu koristeellinen ns.
Toinen koulurakennus on vuodelta 1939, suunnittelijana arkkitehti Jaakko Laaksovirta.
Historia
Vanhin tunnettu luotsiasema rakennettiin Kalloon 1851. Se tuhoutui Krimin sodassa 1854. Ilmeisesti 1800-luvun lopulla luotsitoiminta siirtyi Reposaareen, missä on edelleen komea tähystystornilla varustettu kaksikerroksinen luotsiasema.
Satama tuli Yyterin kartanon maille.
Uniluodon asuinalue on syntynyt Mäntyluodon talvisataman rakentamisen yhteydessä (1898-1901). Tuolloin alue palstoitettiin pieniksi tonteiksi.
Sataman liikenteen kasvaessa Porin kaupunki rakennutti 1918 arkkitehtitoimisto Fagerholm & Nordmanin suunnitteleman hotelli- ja ravintolarakennuksen ranta-alueelle.

Description
Mäntyluoto harbour is a varied environment related to harbour history and seafaring, together with the neighbouring Reposaari. (See separate Reposaari settlement entry.)
Kallo, the island lying off the harbours of Pori, Mäntyluoto and Reposaari, is a historically significant pilotage site. The navigational aids and pilot stations on Kallo form a multi-layered, relatively compact and well-preserved building complex. The buildings in the busy harbour setting have retained their connection to their original operating environment.
Kallo lighthouse consists of an iron light tower 9.3 metres high, set on a granite base, and a wooden building attached to it (1885/1903). The tower houses two working optical apparatuses, one of which is the lighthouse's original dioptric optical apparatus. Beside the lighthouse is an old fog signal station (1906). The building that served as an engine shelter and the engine operator's dwelling has been extended since the Second World War, when the technology connected with the foghorn was also removed. The Kallo pilot station has an old pilot watch-house (1859), built after the Crimean War.
Within the maritime traffic historical entity of the Mäntyluoto harbour area, the renewed harbour area includes the decorative so-called Ryssäntorni, built in 1903 to designs by architect Gustaf Nyström as a harbour light, which is now an unlit daymark.
The harbour railway of the Mäntyluoto harbour area is linked to a station environment with its park. The station building, completed in 1900 on the basis of type drawings prepared by architect Bruno Granholm, was extended in the early 20th century. Growth in harbour traffic is also linked to the hotel and restaurant completed next to the station in 1918.
The harbour area is connected to the small, densely built settlement of Uniluoto, with its rectangular plots and small residential buildings, mainly dating from the early 20th century. The most distinguished of the buildings, now functioning as a school, is a neo-Renaissance villa designed by Johan Nordstrand and built by sea captain Oscar Heine. The other school building dates from 1939 and was designed by architect Jaakko Laaksovirta.
History
The oldest known pilot station was built at Kallo in 1851. It was destroyed in the Crimean War in 1854. Apparently at the end of the 19th century, pilotage moved to Reposaari, where a handsome two-storey pilot station with a lookout tower still stands. The importance of Reposaari harbour declined when Mäntyluoto harbour was built in the latter part of the 19th century. The pilots moved back to Kallo when the pengertie between Kallo and Mäntyluoto was built in the 1960s.
In summer 1874, pilotage director Justus Erikson proposed a sector light at Kallo, which would guide ships safely past the Trekantti shoal at the mouth of the harbour. The project was realised ten years later. A wooden light hut was built on the island, which also included a dwelling for the lighthouse keeper. The lighthouse was renewed in the early 20th century, when an iron light tower was built alongside it and a fog signal station was established. In the 1920s, Kallo still had one senior and two junior lighthouse keepers. In the 1930s, the lighthouse was first converted to gas and then to electric operation. In connection with these renovations, the staffing of the lighthouse was also discontinued. In addition, the Kaijankari sea lighthouse, completed in 1933, is linked to maritime traffic off Pori.
Reposaari, situated north of Mäntyluoto, had been an old harbour site and Pori's outer harbour since the 19th century. Two years after the completion of the Tampere-Pori railway, the Senate considered building a railway from Pori to Mäntyluoto. The previous year, the winter traffic committee had proposed Reposaari-Mäntyluoto as Finland's second winter harbour, in the event that the Hanko harbour proved unusable because of wind and ice conditions. A precondition for this was that a railway and the necessary harbour facilities be built at Mäntyluoto.
The interest shown by the state also led to Mäntyluoto harbour being built on a larger scale than the town of Pori had planned. Both the railway and the harbour were entrusted to the tie- ja vesirakennusten ylihallitus. Construction of the railway began in 1897 and of the harbour at the beginning of the following year. The harbour was located on the lands of Yyteri manor. The harbour railway and station building were completed in 1900. The station building was extended in 1912 and 1915. A goods storehouse, two residential buildings with their outbuildings, and a locomotive shed were built in the station area.
By 1901, nearly 300 metres of quay for a 6 - 6.5 metre deep fairway, 385 metres of loading and unloading quay for smaller vessels, as well as storehouses, administrative buildings and a railway yard, had been completed. The construction of Mäntyluoto harbour included a wooden harbour light built at the end of the long harbour quay.
The Uniluoto residential area came into being in connection with the construction of the Mäntyluoto winter harbour (1898-1901). At that time the area was divided into small plots.
As harbour traffic grew, the town of Pori had a hotel and restaurant building, designed by the architectural office Fagerholm & Nordman, built on the shoreline in 1918.
