The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Ratulan ulkoasultaan uusklassistinen päärakennus, puisto ja viljelykset muodostavat merkittävän maisema- ja asutushistoriallisen kokonaisuuden.

Ratulan kartano sijaitsee Villikkalanjärven koillisrannalla Lanskinjokivarressa, jossa avautuu hyvin laaja 1700-luvun lopun viljelymaisema. Kartanomaisemaa halkoo 1700-luvun linjauksen säilyttänyt maantie. Peltoaukeata rajaavat kallioiset kumpareet ja harva asutus.

Kartanon nykyisen rakennuskannan ulkoasu on peräisin 1800-luvun alkupuolelta. Kumpareella olevalle kartanolle johtaa vanhojen koivujen ja nuorten tammien reunustama kujanne.

Kartanon pihapiirissä on talousrakennuksia 1800-luvulta ja englantilaistyylisessä puistossa on huvimajoja ja puistorakennelmia, mm. 1854 rakennetut Iloniemi-paviljonki ja Eugenien telttakattoinen paviljonki. Empirevaikutteineen viljamakasiini on luonnopuiston reunassa.

Päärakennusta ympäröivä englantilaistyylinen puisto jatkuu lännessä luonnonpuistona. Luonnonpuistossa sijaitsee Artjärven kotiseutumuseo, jonne on siirretty vanhoja rakennuksia.

Kuningatar Kristiina lahjoitti Ratulan kylän 30-vuotisessa sodassa ansioituneelle kenraali Arvid Forbukselle 1639. Ratulan kartano muodostettiin 1600-luvulla Jakkarilan kartanon lahjoitusmaista. Ratulassa oli tuolloin 17 taloa.

Ratulan kartanon kaksikerroksisen päärakennuksen ensimmäisen kerroksen runko on peräisin 1780-luvulta, vapaaherra Bernd Magnus Stackelbergin ajalta. Ministerivaltiosihteeri Alexander Armfelt (1794-1876) osti Ratulan 1835 ja käynnisti laajennus- ja muutostyöt välittömästi. Arkkitehti C.L.

Kartanon omistaja, agronomi Gustaf Alexander Rotkirch perusti luonnonpuistoon ulkoilmamuseon 1923.

The neoclassical main building, park and cultivated fields of Ratula form a significant landscape and settlement-historical whole in terms of their external appearance.

Ratula manor lies on the northeastern shore of Villikkalanjärvi, along the Lanskinjoki river, where a very extensive cultivated landscape from the end of the 18th century opens up. The manor landscape is crossed by a highway that has kept its 18th-century alignment. The open fields are bordered by rocky knolls and sparse settlement.

The present building stock of the manor dates in its external appearance from the first half of the 19th century. A lane lined with old birches and young oaks leads to the manor, which stands on a knoll.

The manor yard contains outbuildings from the 19th century, and the English-style park contains garden pavilions and park structures, including the Iloniemi pavilion built in 1854 and Eugenie's tent-roofed pavilion. The grain storehouse, with Empire influences, stands at the edge of the nature park.

The English-style park surrounding the main building continues to the west as a nature park. The Artjärvi local heritage museum is located in the nature park, and old buildings have been moved there.

Queen Kristiina donated the village of Ratula in 1639 to General Arvid Forbus, who had distinguished himself in the Thirty Years' War. Ratula manor was formed in the 17th century from donated lands of Jakkarila manor. At that time there were 17 farms in Ratula.

The frame of the first floor of the two-storey main building of Ratula manor dates from the 1780s, from the time of Baron Bernd Magnus Stackelberg. Minister State Secretary Alexander Armfelt (1794-1876) bought Ratula in 1835 and immediately started extension and alteration work. According to plans by architect C.L. Engel, the main building was raised by one storey, and a central risalit with triangular gables, supported by pairs of columns, was built on the facade. The building was clad with Empire-style boarding and mouldings. In the 1890s the main building of the manor was altered to designs by architect Carl Armfelt, and in 1922 it underwent a restoration repair.

The owner of the manor, agronomist Gustaf Alexander Rotkirch, founded an open-air museum in the nature park in 1923.
