Rataosuus Kemin pohjoispuolella sijaitsevalta Laurilan asemalta Rovaniemelle valmistui 1909. Arkkitehti Thure Hellströmin suunnittelema jugendtyylinen rautatieasema piharakennuksiin on radan rakentamisajalta.

Koivu railway station is a well-preserved station complex on the section of line between Kemi and Rovaniemi; its building stock also includes a water tower and a pump house. The station area, dating from the construction phase of the line in 1908, survived the destruction of the final phase of the Second World War.

Koivu is situated halfway between Kemi and Rovaniemi, and trains stopped there during the steam locomotive era to take on wood and water. The Koivu station was famous for its restaurant, which operated from the end of the 1910s until 1959.

The section of line from Laurila station, north of Kemi, to Rovaniemi was completed in 1909. The Jugend-style railway station and its farmyard outbuildings, designed by architect Thure Hellström, date from the building period of the line.
