The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Multian vesistöjen välisellä kannaksella sijaitseva kirkonkylä on maisemaltaan ja kylärakenteeltaan tasapainoinen vanha kirkonkylä.

Multian kirkko on saanut uusgoottilaisen nykyasunsa 1900. Päätytornillisen pitkäkirkon lähituntumassa on vuodelta 1819 peräisin oleva pappila.

The church village, situated on the isthmus between the Multia waterways, is a well-balanced old church village in its landscape and village structure.

Multia church acquired its present neo-Gothic form in 1900. In the immediate vicinity of the long church with a gable tower stands the parsonage, dating from 1819. The other buildings in the church area are the lukkarila, the seurakuntatalo (parish hall), a few old commercial buildings and the main building of Metsola.

Multia originally belonged to the large parish of Ruovesi. Multia became a preaching station of Keuruu, which had been separated from Ruovesi, in 1795, and an independent parish in 1871.

The small cruciform church of Multia was built after the chapel was established, in 1796-1798 under Matti Åkerblom. The alteration into the present long church was designed by the Vaasa provincial architect K.V. Reinius and completed in 1900.

From the 1860-1870s onwards, the settlement's centre began to grow east of the church and parsonage, at the road junction. The first buildings of municipal administration and commerce were built in the area.
