The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Kylässä on useita avokallioisia mäkiä. Vehkoon maatilojen rakennukset muodostavat näyttävän kokonaisuuden mäen harjanteelle.

Vesivehmaan kylä on sijoittunut II Salpausselän eteläpuolella olevaan viljelyvyöhykkeeseen. Vanha, harjua seuraava maantie sivuaa Vesivehmaan kylää sen pohjoispuolella. Kylän läpi kulkeva raitin linjaus on 1700-luvulta ja osa entistä Helsinki-Jyväskylä -tietä.

Rakennuskanta koostuu pääasiassa maatilojen talouskeskuksista. Useille kantatiloille on rakennettu uudet päärakennukset 1910- ja 1920-luvuilla. Lisäksi rakennuskantaan kuuluu jonkin verran mökkiasutusta, entinen kestikievari, kauppa ja rukoushuone. Kylän keskustassa on jugendtyylinen nuorisoseurantalo.

Kylää pohjoispuolelta sivuava tie on peräisin keskiajalta.

The centre of Vesivehmaa is characterised by a north-south band-like structure, which is repeated in the raitti and in the settlement that follows it, in the field valleys and on the ridges. The landscape of Vesivehmaa village is therefore typically varied, shaped by hillocks and valleys. The village has several hills with exposed bedrock. The buildings of the Vehkoo farms form an impressive group on the ridge of a hill.

Vesivehmaa village is situated in the cultivation zone south of the II Salpausselkä. The old road that follows the esker passes Vesivehmaa village on its north side. The alignment of the raitti running through the village dates from the 18th century and forms part of the former Helsinki-Jyväskylä road.

The building stock consists mainly of farm complexes. New main buildings were constructed for several original farms in the 1910s and 1920s. The building stock also includes some cottage settlement, a former coaching inn, a shop and a prayer house. In the centre of the village there is a Jugend-style youth society hall.

The earliest written records of the village of Vesivehmaa, or Vehmaa, date from the 15th century. The village probably took its name from its location and soil. Seen from Maavehmaa on the Hollola side, Vehmaa in Asikkala lay across the water. The road that skirts the village on its north side dates from the Middle Ages.

At the beginning of the early modern period the village had 21 farms, and it was one of the large villages that grew up around Lake Vesijärvi. The medieval large village later spread into a ribbon-like formation along the raitti and along the ridges of the hills.

North of the village, on Vesivehmaankangas, an airfield was built in 1939-1940. After the war the airfield served as a garrison for Ilmatorjuntarykmentti 2 until the 1950s.
