The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Riskun talo Sarvijoen kylässä on edustava esimerkki eteläpohjalaisesta umpipihaisesta talonpoikaistalosta.

The Risku house in the village of Sarvijoki is a representative example of a South Ostrobothnian closed-yard farmhouse.

The linear village settlement of Sarvijoki, with its fields, is concentrated along the small Sarvijoki river and the road following it. The Risku house is located in the southern part of the village.

The Risku house yard is enclosed on all sides by buildings; the main building, built in 1873, is at the back of the yard, and the yard is entered through a porttilutti.

The area that later became Jurva parish, which belonged to the backwoods and remote areas of the mother parish of Laihia, was mainly settled only in the early modern period. Behind poor transport links, in a forest and bog area, the village of Sarvijoki was founded along the Sarvijoki river, and it received its first inhabitants in the first half of the 17th century. In addition to farming, the village's livelihood included a sawmill, a mill and a dairy, established in the late 19th century and at the turn of the 20th century.
