The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Sääksjärvestä Kokemäenjokeen laskevan viljavan Kauvatsajoen varrella kohoavalla Kauvatsan kirkonmäellä on yhtenäinen ryhmä pitäjän hallintoon 1900-luvun alussa kuuluneita rakennuksia. Kirkko, pappila, kunnantalo, lainamakasiini ja kolmen kantatilan rakennukset sekä kirkolle johtavan maantien vartta rajaavat talousrakennukset ja talonpoikaisrakennuksiin liittyvät viljelysmaat muodostavat kokonaisuuden, joka hyvin kuvastaa pienissä kirkonkylissä ennen sotia vallinnutta rakentamista.

Länsitornillinen pitkäkirkko on valmistunut 1879. Rakennukseen liittyvät runkohuoneen korkuiset ristivarret. Julkisivukoristelu noudattaa aikansa kertaustyyliä. Kirkon vieressä on 1800-luvun alkupuolella rakennettu pappila ja tien toisella puolella on Yli-Mikolan kivinen makasiini vuodelta 1858. Kauvatsan entinen kunnantalo on 1800- ja 1900-luvun vaihteesta.

Kirkonkylän muodostavan Yttilän kylämaiseman runko koostuu kirkon ja maantien ympärille keskittyneistä Yli-Kouhin, Uusi-Porran ja Yli-Reikon tilakeskuksista. Yli-Mikolan päärakennus on rakennettu 1879, hirsityöt ovat kirkonrakentajien tekemät.

Historiallisen ajan asutus levisi Satakunnassa viljelyyn sopivien jokilaaksojen varsille. Kokemäenjoen sivujoen kyläasutus alkoi keskiajalla. Uuden ajan alkupuolella, 1560-luvulla, Huittisten pitäjään kuuluneessa Yttilän kylässä oli viisi taloa.

Kauvatsan ensimmäinen kirkko rakennettiin 1646 Rutunan tilan maille. Nykyiselle paikalle kirkko rakennettiin 1801, minkä jälkeen alkoi pitäjän hallintoon liittyvä rakentaminen kirkon ympärille. C.J. Heidekenin suunnittelema kirkko valmistui 1879.

Suomen asutus 1560-luvulla, kyläluettelot ja kartasto. Helsingin yliopiston historian laitoksen julkaisuja N:o 4. Helsinki 1973.

Satakunnan rakennusperinne. Satakunnan seutukaavaliitto. Sarja A:177. Pori 1990.

On the Kauvatsa church hill, rising along the fertile Kauvatsajoki which flows from Sääksjärvi into the Kokemäenjoki, is a unified group of buildings that belonged to the parish administration in the early 20th century. The church, parsonage, municipal hall, lainamakasiini and the buildings of three kantatila farms, together with the outbuildings bordering the road leading to the church and the cultivated land associated with the farmhouse buildings, form a whole which well reflects the building that prevailed in small church villages before the wars.

The west-towered pitkäkirkko was completed in 1879. Transept arms as high as the nave are attached to the building. The façade decoration follows the revival style of its time. The parsonage, built in the early 19th century, stands beside the church, and on the other side of the road is the stone storehouse of Yli-Mikola, dating from 1858. The former municipal hall of Kauvatsa dates from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

The framework of the Yttilä village landscape, which forms the church village, consists of the farm centres of Yli-Kouhi, Uusi-Porra and Yli-Reiko, concentrated around the church and the road. The main building of Yli-Mikola was built in 1879; the log work was done by the church builders.

Settlement of the historical period spread in Satakunta along the river valleys suitable for cultivation. Village settlement on a tributary of the Kokemäenjoki began in the Middle Ages. In the early modern period, in the 1560s, the village of Yttilä, which belonged to the parish of Huittinen, had five farms.

The first church of Kauvatsa was built in 1646 on the land of the Rutuna farm. The church was built on its present site in 1801, after which construction related to parish administration began around the church. The church designed by C.J. Heideken was completed in 1879.
