The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Kartanoiden nykyinen rakennuskanta on vanhimmilta osiltaan siirtojen jälkeiseltä ajalta. Vanhakartanosta 1800-luvun alkupuolella erotetun Kivismäen kartanon rakennuksista osa on Vanhakartanon vanhoja rakennuksia.

Puisto puukujanteineen on työlaitoksen ajalta.

Ormajärven pohjoispäässä olevat Sankolan kylän Nuuttilan, Ali-Vilppulan, Vilppulan ja Ali-Nuuttilan talonpoikaistilat muodostavat nauhamaisen ryhmäkylän. Tienpinnan nostaminen on muuttanut perinteistä raittinäkymää.

Ormajärven eteläpäässä, Untulanharjun Linnavuoren kupeessa oleva Pyhän Katariinan kirkko on ulkohahmoltaan tyypillinen keskiaikainen harmaakivikirkko. Kirkkosalia kattaa vuoden 1918 palon jälkeen tehty betoniholvaus. Kiinteä sisustus penkkeineen, urkuineen, saarnatuoleineen sekä alttarilaitteineen on säilynyt palon jälkeisessä asussaan. Kolmikerroksinen barokkitapuli kirkon länsipuolella on palon jälkeen rakennettu entisen kaltaiseksi. Kellot ovat peräisin Viipurin sotilaskirkosta. Kirkkotarhan lounaiskulmassa on Lammin Vanhakartanon omistaneelle Gustaf Bogislaus von Platenille rakennettu hautakappeli 1830-luvulta.

Hovijunkkari Karl Gustav Stjernvall yhdisti tilat 1770-luvulla. Vuonna 1818 pidetyssä perinnönjaossa Vanhakartanosta erotettiin Kivismäen kartano. Vanhakartanon 1700-luvulta oleva kaksikerroksinen päärakennus siirrettiin nykyiselle paikalle 1892 ja 1930-luvulla rakennus uusittiin arkkitehti Carl Frankenheuserin ja Marianne Granbergin suunnitelmin. Rantaan vievä tammikuja istutettiin 1905 ja pihaan johtava koivukuja 1894.

Lammin reservikomppania eli Hämeen 25. reservikomppania toimi Lammilla 1883-1899. Mainiemen kuntoutuskeskuksen kolmikerroksinen, kivinen päärakennus valmistui 1927 Martti Paalasen suunnittelemana.

The surroundings of Ormajärvi in Lammi form the core area of medieval settlement in Sydän-Häme, a significance reflected in the medieval manors and the grey stone church.

On the eastern shore of Ormajärvi, near the esker ridge running northwest to southeast, a fertile clay soil has offered good conditions for settlement since the Iron Age, given its soil and climate. The cultural landscape of the Ormajärvi surroundings is characterised by open field landscapes, the farm centres of manors inherited from the Middle Ages, extensive parks, park forests and tree-lined avenues, as well as the hillfort located on Untulanharju at the southern end of the lake and the medieval stone church of Lammi. The area is also a traffic junction. The Suuri Savontie has passed the Lammi church and, south of the church, joined the Ylinen Viipurintie, along which travel has been made to Viipuri, Hämeenlinna and, via Tammerkoski, to Satakunta.

The oldest layer of the cultural landscape, dating from the Iron Age, comprises the Untulanharju hillfort, a cremation cemetery, a sacrificial spring and the so-called sword-sharpening stone. The Middle Ages are represented by the Pyhän Katariinan kirkko of Lammi, Sankola village and the rälssisäterit of Porkkala and Vanhakartano. The layer from the 19th century and the early 20th century comprises Kivismäki manor, separated from Vanhakartano, and the former reserve company area of Mainiemi.

The sites of the medieval rälssisäterit have been moved and their main buildings renewed: Porkkala was moved to its present location at the beginning of the 19th century, and Vanhakartano at the end of the 19th century. The present building stock of the manors dates, in its oldest parts, from the period after these relocations. Some of the buildings of Kivismäki manor, separated from Vanhakartano in the first half of the 19th century, are old buildings of Vanhakartano. The second residential building, the bakehouse, the cowshed, the granary storehouses and the grain storehouse also date from the beginning of the 19th century.

The Mainiemi rehabilitation centre area also contains building stock from the barracks and workhouse period that preceded the rehabilitation centre, such as the residences of the reserve company officers and the gunpowder cellars. The park with its tree-lined avenues dates from the workhouse period.

The farmhouses of Nuuttila, Ali-Vilppula, Vilppula and Ali-Nuuttila in Sankola village, at the northern end of Ormajärvi, form a linear group village. Raising the road surface has changed the traditional avenue view. The main buildings of the farms are mainly from the 18th and 19th centuries. The buildings of Porkkala elementary school, located along the main road, date from the early 20th century and the 1930s.

The Pyhän Katariinan kirkko, situated at the southern end of Ormajärvi beside the Untulanharju hillfort, is in its exterior form a typical medieval grey stone church. The church hall is covered by a concrete vault made after the fire of 1918. The fixed interior, with its pews, organ, pulpit and altar fittings, has survived in its post-fire form. The three-storey Baroque bell tower west of the church was rebuilt after the fire to resemble the original. The bells come from the military church in Viipuri. In the south-western corner of the churchyard is a burial chapel built from the 1830s for Gustaf Bogislaus von Platen, who owned Vanhakartano.

The medieval manors and the church of Lammi are located within the Ormajärvi - Untula landscape area of national significance.

The area around Ormajärvi was settled in the Iron Age. In the Middle Ages a stone church was built there, and the Porkkala and Vanhankartano manors and their rälssitilat were established there. In the early modern period, in the 1560s, the area also had, besides the manors, the two farms of Sankola, the lone farm of Parikkala and the six-farm village of Vanhankartano.

The church and parish of Lammi were founded in the early 15th century, and it became a mother parish in 1435. The church dedicated to Pyhä Katariina, belonging to the late medieval churches of Tavastia, was built at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries. During the final days of the Civil War, in April 1918, the church and bell tower were destroyed by fire. The reconstruction work designed by architect Usko Nyström was completed in 1920.

The village that preceded the Porkkala manor is first mentioned in written sources as early as 1374. Porkkala, which was old rälssi land, was in the 15th century the residential manor of the Tavast family. In the early modern period the manor was owned, among others, by the Fincke and Horn families.

Vanhakartano, which was also old rälssi land, is mentioned in the 1450s, when it was an undivided residential manor. In the 17th century Vanhakartano had been divided into several rälssisäteri and -tila holdings. Court junker Karl Gustav Stjernvall reunited the holdings in the 1770s. In the inheritance division held in 1818, Kivismäki manor was separated from Vanhakartano. The two-storey main building of Vanhakartano, dating from the 18th century, was moved to its present site in 1892, and in the 1930s the building was renovated to designs by architects Carl Frankenheuser and Marianne Granberg. The oak avenue leading to the shore was planted in 1905, and the birch avenue leading to the yard in 1894.

The Lammi reserve company, that is the 25th Reserve Company of Tavastia, operated at Lammi in 1883-1899. The Lammi reserve company was a military unit belonging to the Hämeenlinna sharpshooter battalion that trained reservists. The barracks were built in the 1880s and were used as barracks until the turn of the century, when the sharpshooter battalions and reserve companies were abolished. After Finland's independence the barracks first housed a convict transit station, and in 1919-1923 a reserve prison. The work institution founded by the municipalities began operations in 1924; the main building built for its use was completed in 1927. An alcoholics' care home was established alongside the work institution in 1946, and in 1984 it was given its present name, Mainiemen kuntoutumiskeskus. The three-storey stone main building of Mainiemen kuntoutuskeskus was completed in 1927 to designs by Martti Paalanen.
