Kuvaus
Åvikin kartano sijaitsee laajassa kulttuurimaisemassa Åvikinjärveksi levenevän Paimionjoen pohjoisrannalla. Kartanon paikalla on sijainnut maamme lasiteollisuuden käynnistänyt 1748 perustettu lasitehdas. Kartanoalueen halki kulkee Hämeen Härkätien vanha linjaus Somerolle.
Åvikin kartano on nuorin Someron kartanoista. Kartanon asuintonttia sivuavalta tieltä johtaa lehtipuiden reunustama tie puiston keskellä olevan kaksikerroksisen, ilmeisesti 1800-luvun alussa rakennetun puisen päärakennuksen edustalle. Kartanoon kuuluu yhteensä 14 rakennusta. Päärakennuksen molemmin puolin ryhmittyviä talousrakennuksia hallitsee suuri tiilinen valkeaksi rapattu navetta-tallirakennus 1830-luvulta sekä tiilinen sikala.
Historia
Someron Sillanpään kylän autiona olleista neljästä kantatilasta 1747 muodostettun Åvikin kartanon maille perustettiin Åvikin lasitehdas, joka oli tuolloin maan ainoa lasitehdas. Tehdas toimi vuodesta 1748 vuoteen 1833 saakka, jolloin kartanon rakennukset päärakennusta lukuun ottamatta tuhoutuivat tulipalossa.

Description
Åvik manor is located in a wide cultural landscape on the northern shore of the Paimionjoki, which widens into Åvikinjärvi. The glass factory founded in 1748, which launched the glass industry in our country, was located on the manor site. The old route of the Hämeen Härkätie to Somero runs across the manor area.
Åvik manor is the youngest of the manors in Somero. From the road touching the manor's residential plot, a road lined with deciduous trees leads to the front of the two-storey wooden main building in the middle of the park, apparently built at the beginning of the 19th century. The manor comprises a total of 14 buildings. The outbuildings grouped on either side of the main building are dominated by a large brick, white-rendered cowshed-stable building from the 1830s, as well as a brick pigsty.
History
On the lands of Åvik manor, formed in 1747 from four abandoned main farms (kantatila) of Sillanpää village in Somero, the Åvik glass factory was established, which was then the country's only glass factory. The factory operated from 1748 until 1833, when the manor's buildings, except for the main building, were destroyed in a fire.
The main building of the manor was probably built in 1802. It was extended to its present dimensions in the 1860s and was also altered in 1910. The western part of the building, dating from the 1860s, was renewed in 1939. The manor's large stone cowshed was built in the 1830s and the other outbuildings at the beginning of the 20th century. The route of the Hämeen Härkätie once ran between the manor's buildings. Several crofts were established on the manor in the 18th and 19th centuries, and more than 20 lohkotilaa have since been separated from its lands.
