The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Lypertön luotsiasema on maamme parhaiten säilyneitä esimerkkejä 1800-luvun lopun luotsiasemasta.

Lypyrtin kyläasutus sijoittuu Kustavista pohjoiseen suuntautuvan laivareitin nk. Edustavin esimerkki varhaisesta huvila-asutuksesta on Lypyrtin saarella Alastalon naapurina sijaitseva, arkkitehti Lars Sonckin suunnittelema Villa Hornborgin hirsihuvila korkeine torneineen vuodelta 1923. Huvilan suunnittelussa on huomioitu saaristomaiseman olosuhteet ja suojaisuuden vaatimukset. Huvilaan liittyy maisemaan sovitettu puutarha sekä arboretum.

Lypertön luotsiasema sijaitsee maisemallisesti merkittävällä paikalla niin sanotun Kustavin Ströömin pohjoispäässä noin kilometrin pituisella Killeskärin saarella. Killeskär, toiselta nimeltään Tammiluoto, on tiheässä saaristossa sijaitseva havumetsää kasvava kalliosaari. Vuonna 1888 rakennettu vaaleaksi maalattu luotsiasema erottuu ympäristöstään vartiotuvan katolla olevan suurikokoisen tähystystornin ansiosta.

Kustaviin muodostui vakinaista asutusta viimeistään 1100-luvulla ja alun perin Taivassalon pitäjään kuuluneessa Lypertön kylässä oli 1560-luvulla neljä taloa. Alastalon 1400-luvulta juontuvan historian maineikkain kausi ajoittuu 1800-luvun talonpoikaispurjehdukseen.

Lypertön luotsiasema rakennettiin Ströömin väylän pohjoispäähän 1888. Sen suunnitteli Ernst Fredrik Andersin. Asema oli käytössä vuoteen 1958, jolloin Ströömin väylän eteläpäähän valmistui Laupusten luotsiasema.

Lypertö village and the pilot station established in its area at the end of the 19th century form a diverse ensemble that tells of the archipelago way of life and its livelihoods. The most notable house in the village is Alastalo, which is connected with the writings of Volter Kilpi. In Kilpi's book Alastalon salissa, the events are set precisely at Alastalo in Lypertö and in the maritime landscapes of Kustavi. Villa Hornborg, sited on the shore, is a representative early 1920s villa designed by architect Lars Sonck and an important landmark for the Lypertö strait and Seksmiilari. The Lypertö pilot station is one of the best-preserved examples in Finland of a pilot station from the end of the 19th century.

The village settlement of Lypertö lies along the shipping route running north from Kustavi, known as the so-called Ströömi, on the shores of the islands of Lypertö, Katkuru and Killeskär (Killeskeri). Alastalo is located on the east shore of Lypertö island, along the Ströömi fairway. In Lypertö, besides the village population that has made its living from fishing and seafaring, there has long been villa settlement as well. The most representative example of early villa settlement is the Villa Hornborg log villa with its tall towers, dating from 1923, designed by architect Lars Sonck and located on Lypertö island next to Alastalo. The design of the villa takes into account the conditions of the archipelago landscape and the requirements for shelter. The villa is associated with a garden fitted to the landscape, as well as an arboretum.

The Lypertö pilot station is located in a landscape-significant position at the northern end of the so-called Kustavi Ströömi, on Killeskär island, which is about one kilometre long. Killeskär, also known as Tammiluoto, is a coniferous rocky island situated in dense archipelago. The pale-painted pilot station, built in 1888, stands out from its surroundings thanks to the large observation tower on the roof of the guard room.

Permanent settlement formed in Kustavi by the 12th century at the latest, and the village of Lypertö, originally part of the parish of Taivassalo, had four farms in the 1560s. The most celebrated period in the history of Alastalo, which dates from the 15th century, falls within the peasant seafaring of the 19th century.

The Lypertö pilot station was built at the northern end of the Ströömi fairway in 1888. It was designed by Ernst Fredrik Andersin. The station was in use until 1958, when the Laupunen pilot station was completed at the southern end of the Ströömi fairway.
