Kuvaus
Vääräkosken vuosina 1901-1998 toimineen kartonkitehtaan monipuolinen tehdas-, konttori- ja asuinrakennuksia sisältävä kokonaisuus edustaa hyvin 1900-luvun alun pienimuotoista puunjalostustehdasta. Rakennetun ympäristön lisäksi tehtaan kone- ja laitekannalla on teollisuushistoriallista merkitystä.
Vääräkosken kartonkitehdas ja puuhiomo sijaitsee Kokemäen vesistöön kuuluvan Ähtärin reitin varrella. Tehtaan rakennukset sijaitsevat lyhyen Hyvölänjoen Vääräkosken rannalla. Ympäristö on vesistöjen ranta-alueiden osalta maatalousmaisemaa, jota rajaavat metsäiset mäet. Tehdasalueen eteläosa, Hyvölänjoen alajuoksu, on osa valtakunnallisesti merkittävää Ähtärin reitin kulttuurimaisemat maisema-aluetta.
Punatiilinen tehdas käsittää kartonkitehtaan, puuhiomon ja voimalaitoksen (1901/1937). Teollisuusrakennuksiin kuuluvat lisäksi korjauspaja (1924), tallirakennus ja pitkät pahvivarastot. Teollisuusrakennusten pohjoispuolella on arkkitehtitoimisto Björklund & Myntin suunnittelema johtajan asunto (1924). Tehdasmiljööseen kuuluu lisäksi vanha konttori (1903) ja uusi konttori (arkkitehti Marius af Schultén 1937). Vääräkosken ja maantien varrella on tehtaan työväenasuntoja ja työntekijöiden rakentamia mökkejä.
Tehtaaseen kuuluu lisäksi Hyvölänjoen Perännekosken äärellä sijaitseva voimalaitoksena toimiva entinen hiomo- ja myllyrakennus ns. Alatehdas (1906).
Koskimaisemaa on ruopattu voimaperäisesti 2000-luvun alkupuolella.
Historia
Vääräkosken tehtaan perusti 1897 tamperelainen kauppias ja sahanomistaja, insinööri Gustaf A. Lönnqvist.
Tehdasalue otettiin yritystiloiksi 2001.

Description
The cardboard factory at Vääräkoski, which operated from 1901 to 1998, is a comprehensive complex of factory, office and residential buildings that represents well the small-scale wood-processing factory of the early 20th century. Apart from the built environment, the machinery and equipment of the factory are of industrial-historical significance.
The Vääräkoski cardboard factory and groundwood mill are located along the Ähtäri route, which belongs to the Kokemäki watercourse system. The factory buildings are situated on the bank of the Vääräkoski rapids on the short Hyvölänjoki river. As regards the shoreline areas, the setting is agricultural landscape bounded by wooded hills. The southern part of the factory site, the lower reaches of the Hyvölänjoki, is part of the nationally significant Ähtärin reitin kulttuurimaisemat landscape area.
The red-brick factory comprises the cardboard factory, the groundwood mill and the power station (1901/1937). The industrial buildings also include a repair workshop (1924), a stable building and long cardboard storehouses. To the north of the industrial buildings is the managing director's residence (1924), designed by the architectural office Björklund & Mynt. The factory environment also includes the old office (1903) and the new office (designed by architect Marius af Schultén, 1937). Along Vääräkoski and the road there are factory workers' dwellings and cottages built by the workers.
The factory also includes the Alatehdas (so-called), a former grinding and mill building beside the Perännekoski rapids on the Hyvölänjoki, dating from 1906, which now operates as a power station.
From the cardboard factory's varied machinery, a cardboard machine made in Germany in the late 19th century has survived, along with three grinding machines made by Tampella in the 1940s in the factory's groundwood mill.
The external appearance of the cardboard factory has been affected by renovations carried out in the 1980s and 1990s. The rapids landscape was intensively dredged in the early 2000s.
History
The Vääräkoski factory was founded in 1897 by Gustaf A. Lönnqvist, a Tampere merchant and sawmill owner, engineer. On 3.8.1898 the Vaasan läänin Kuvernöörin virasto granted a permit for a water-powered groundwood mill at Ylä-Vääräkoski. The cardboard factory started operations in 1901. A second grinding and mill building was built in 1906 on the south side of Vääräkoski, at Perännekoski.
Closely connected with the Vääräkoski cardboard factory is the groundwood mill at Ryötö, founded in 1898, the majority of whose shares passed to the Lönnqvist family in 1927. The mill was closed in 1937, after which a power station was established on the rapids, which also supplied electricity to the Vääräkoski cardboard factory.
Vääräkoski remained in the Lönnqvist family until 1978, after which operations continued as a limited company. The factory went bankrupt in 1986, after which operations continued under the name Vääräkosken Pahvi Oy until 1998. The factory site was taken into use as business premises in 2001.
