Kuvaus
Ahlaisten kirkonkylä on yksi parhaiten vanhan rakenteensa säilyttäneitä ja hoidettuja kirkonkyliä maassa.
Jokivarren harjanteella ja lähellä merenrantaa sijaitseva Ahlaisten kirkonkylän muodostavan Ala- ja Ylikylän asutus on keskittynyt raitin varrelle. Oman alueen muodostaa jokirantaan kasvanut Vaaksholman alue.
Kylän keskuksessa, Alakylässä, teiden risteyksessä on puinen ristikirkko (1796/1908) tapuleineen (1834).
Omaksi kirkkoherrakunnaksi Ahlainen erotettiin 1893. Ahlainen liitettiin 1972 Porin kaupunkiin ja seurakunta muuttui yhdeksi Porin seurakunnista. Salomon Köykän suunnittelema päätytorniton pitkäkirkko valmistui 1796, jonka runkohuoneeseen liittyivät pitkillä sivuilla eteinen ja sakaristo. Kirkko uusittiin Josef Stenbäckin piirustusten mukaan 1908, jolloin sivuilla olleet rakenteet laajennettiin kirkkohuoneen ristivarsiksi. Tapuli rakennettiin intendenttikonttorissa 1832 laadittujen piirustusten mukaan.
Rakennusmestari Malèn suunnitteli 1860-luvulla useita asuinrakennuksia raitin varrelle. Pirttirivi on valmistui 1907. Rakennuksia ympäröi vanha puisto. Malénin suunnittelemat Larsgårdin päärakennus valmistui 1860, Pappilan 1865 ja Södergårdin kartanon päärakennus 1862.

Description
Ahlainen church village is one of the best-preserved and best-maintained church villages in the country.
The settlement of Alakylä and Ylikylä, which together form the Ahlainen church village, is situated on a ridge by the river close to the seashore and is concentrated along the raitti. The Vaaksholma area, which grew up on the riverbank, forms an area of its own.
In the centre of the village, in Alakylä, at a road junction, stands a wooden cruciform church (1796/1908) with its bell tower (1834). Many of the village's buildings date from the 19th century. Besides the church, the dense building stock of farms is concentrated along the main road, along the raitti crossing it, and along the road leading to Ylikylä in the eastern part of the church village. The residential and outbuildings situated densely along the road, with their board and hedge fences, create enclosed and unified raitti views.
The church village includes a boat and fishing harbour, as well as Vaaksholma, also known as Rantakaupunki, where there is dense small-scale settlement and close raitti views.
The settlement of Ylikylä, lying east of Alakylä along the main road, forms a slightly more open raitti view than Alakylä, owing to the influence of large farm centres. Among the old farms of Ylikylä of considerable architectural significance are Malmgård, Södergård, Larsgård and the parsonage, whose main buildings are designs by the building master Malén, who was active in Ahlainen.
History
In the Middle Ages Ahlainen was a fishing area of the people of Huittinen, to which the older village name, Hvittisbofjärd, refers. Together with the nearby Ytterbo, Ahlainen formed a significant village, which already had 18 farms in the early modern period. The villages were then situated on the shore of a bay. Settlement was increased by Swedish colonisation, which reached the coast in the 13th and 14th centuries. During the reign of King Kustaa Vaasa and his sons, the crown granted fiefs as rewards, pensions and compensation, and as a result manor houses of the nobility also appeared in Ahlainen.
After the Reduction, the largest farms were formed into ratsutilat, including Herrgård and Uppgård, and the crown farms of Uotila and Härkönen. Ylikylä was likewise granted as a fief in the 17th century, and after the revocation Malmgård and Stengård were formed.
Ahlainen was established in 1691 as a chapel of the mother parish of Ulvila, and later, in 1861, as a chapel of Noormarkku. Ahlainen was separated as an independent parish in 1893. In 1972 Ahlainen was merged into the city of Pori, and the parish became one of the parishes of Pori.
The long church without a gable tower, designed by Salomon Köykkä, was completed in 1796. To its main body, on the long sides, were attached a vestibule and a sacristy. The church was rebuilt to the drawings of Josef Stenbäck in 1908, when the structures on the sides were extended into the transepts of the church room. The bell tower was built according to drawings prepared in the Intendant's Office in 1832.
In the 1860s the building master Malèn designed several residential buildings along the raitti. The main building of the Malmgård manor and horse farm, designed by Malén, was completed in 1865; it was extended in the 1880s and in the 20th century, and raised in 1923. The oldest parts of the cattle building are of the same age as the main building. The Pirttirivi row was completed in 1907. The buildings are surrounded by an old park. The main building of Larsgård, designed by Malén, was completed in 1860, that of the Pappila in 1865, and the main building of the Södergård manor in 1862.
