The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Vanjärven asutuskylä on maan suurimpia yhtenäisiä, toisen maailmansodan jälkeen Karjalasta tulleelle siirtoväelle rakennettuja asutuskyliä.

Vanjärven asutuskylä Vanjärven kartanon entisillä mailla käsittää yli 70 asutustilan alaltaan 1300 hehtaarin kokonaisuuden Vihdin kunnan pohjoisosassa. Asutustilat sijoittuvat harvakseltaan viljelysaukealle ja tiloilla on rankorakenteisen päärakennuksen lisäksi tavallisesti navetta, sauna ja vajarakennus.

Vanjärven kartanon yksikerroksinen uusklassillinen päärakennus samannimisen järven pohjoisrannalla on arkkitehti Charles Bassin 1807 suunnittelema ja laamanni Adolf Linderin rakennuttama. Metsänrajassa kartanon pohjoispuolella on kaksi harmaakivistä tallirakennusta.

Vanjärven kartanon torpat itsenäistyivät ensimmäisen maailmansodan jälkeen. Uudet lohkotilat syntyivät kartanon maiden rajoille.

Toisen maailmansodan aikoihin Vanjärven kartano toimi Kymi Oy:n vanhainkotina.

Vanjärvi resettlement village is one of the largest continuous resettlement villages in the country, built after the Second World War for evacuees from Karelia.

Vanjärvi resettlement village, on the former lands of Vanjärvi manor, comprises a complex of over 70 settlement holdings covering 1300 hectares in the northern part of Vihti municipality. The settlement holdings are sparsely located on an open cultivated plain, and the farms usually have, in addition to a timber-framed main building, a cowshed, a sauna and an outbuilding.

The single-storey neoclassical main building of Vanjärvi manor, on the northern shore of the lake of the same name, was designed in 1807 by architect Charles Bassi and built for bailiff Adolf Linder. At the forest edge north of the manor there are two grey stone stable buildings.

The crofts of Vanjärvi manor became independent after the First World War. New subdivided holdings were created on the boundaries of the manor's lands.

During the Second World War Vanjärvi manor served as an old people's home run by Kymi Oy. After the war, when the Karelian population was settled, the central part of the manor and its best cultivated lands were divided. 14 hectares were left to the manor, and 1354 hectares were used for settlement. The lands were parcelled out mainly to the farming population of Heinjoki and Viipuri rural municipality. The manor was formed into 64 cultivation holdings of over 6 hectares, four residential smallholdings of 2-6 ha, four residential plots of under 2 ha, as well as a common pasture, a school plot and a sports field.
