Kuvaus
Kalapudas on Pyhäjoen varrella sijaitseva ns. puhtokylä, jonka erityispiirteenä on voimakkaiden kevättulvien takia on maaston korkeimpiin keskittynyt asutus.
Historia
Uudisasutus asettui Kalaputaalle 1500-luvun lopussa. Pyhäjoen keväiset tulvat pakottivat asutuksen keskittymään maaston harvoihin korkeimpiin kohtiin.
Tiiviisti rakennettu Männistönpuhto tuhoutui pahoin tulipalossa 1960, mutta mm. Ala-Männistön päärakennus säilyi palossa.

Description
Kalapudas is a so-called puhtokylä situated along the Pyhäjoki, whose distinctive feature is that, because of strong spring floods, settlement is concentrated on the highest points of the terrain. Several farmsteads have been built on the same hill, each with its residential buildings and numerous outbuildings. The yard is shared, and only a few metres separate the corners of the buildings.
On the Kalapudas hill are the head farms Kalapudas, Alapudas, Rantapudas and Ylimäki. The oldest buildings date from the 18th century. The residential buildings are at the top, framed by a wall-like row of outbuildings, and at the bottom are the barns and storehouses.
Southeast of Kalapudas, on both banks of the Männistökoski, are Poutiaisenpuhto and Männistönpuhto, both of which consist of enclosed courtyards.
History
New settlement was established at Kalapudas at the end of the 16th century. The spring floods of the Pyhäjoki forced settlement to concentrate on the few highest points of the terrain.
The densely built Männistönpuhto was severely destroyed by fire in 1960, but the main building of Ala-Männistö, among others, survived the fire.
