Kuvaus
Joroisten kartanoiden ryhmä on omaperäinen, maan varsinaisen kartanovyöhykkeen ulkopuolelle syntynyt ilmiö, joka on voimakkaasti leimannut pitäjän rakennettua kulttuuriympäristöä. Kartanoiden joukkoon kuuluu arkkitehtuurihistorian merkkiteoksia.
Kumpareella sijaitsevaan pihapiiriin johtaa koivukuja. Suorakaiteenmuotoinen pihapiiri muodostuu keltamaalatusta, mansardikattoisesta päärakennuksesta, kahdesta punamullatusta asuinrakennuksesta, makasiinista ja navetasta. Päärakennuksen keskiakselissa olevan puutarhakäytävän molemmin puolin on istutettu muotopuutarha.
Frugård on vanha ratsutila ja muodostettu 1700-luvulla viidestä talonpoikaistalosta. Sitä ovat omistaneet Grotenfelt-, Wright- ja Collan-suvut. Kartanon päärakennus, jonka pohjakaava on Carl Wijnbladin mallipiirustusten mukainen, periytyy kustavilaiselta ajalta. Kustaa III:n tallimestari Adolf Fredrik Munck on rakennuttanut kartanon äidilleen Hedvig Juliana Munckille. Mansardikattoinen rokokoorakennus on valmistunut 1784.
Ympärillä on tuuhea puisto.
Kotkan hovin kaksikerroksinen, rapattu päärakennus on vuodelta 1930. Rakennuksen on suunnitellut rakennusmestari Kokkonen. Vanhan Kuopiontien varressa olevaan pihapiiriin kuuluu talousrakennuksia, puutarha, puukuja ja kuusiaita.
Joroisniemen kartanon rakennusryhmä on avarien peltojen ympäröimä. Pihapiirissä on päärakennuksen lisäksi sivurakennusten tapaan sijoitetut kaksi aittaa, ns. vanha tupa, jossa asuintuvan lisäksi on ollut väentupa, hevostalli ja nyttemmin autotalliksi muutettu vaja. Istutettu puisto ympäröi kartanorakennusta. Kartanon päärakennus on peräisin 1700-luvun lopulta. Sen jäsentelemättömässä ulkoarkkitehtuurissa on nähtävissä venäläisen kartanorakentamisen vaikutteita.
Järvikylän päärakennus on lääninagronomi Alfred Sjöströmin suunnittelema. Aumakattoisen päärakennuksen päätyihin on lisätty neljä pyramidikattoista tornirakennelmaa, mikä luo puolustuslinnamaisen vaikutelman. Pihapiirissä on runsas historiallinen talousrakennuskanta sekä 1924-26 arkkitehti Urho Åbergin suunnittelema kookas puimala-varastokompleksi. Järvilylän kartanoon kuuluu myös oma kappeli.
Torstilan 1681 muodostettu ratsutila, jonka on omistanut mm. Tiegerstedt-suku. Torstilassa on asunut myös J. A. Sandels. Nykyinen nikkarityylinen päärakennus on arkkitehti Leander Ikosen suunnittelema 1894.
Koskenhovin päärakennus on rakennettu monessa osassa. Sen vanhin osa on empiretyylinen keskeissalirakennus vuodelta 1844. Rakennusta on sittemmin jatkettu 1870- ja 1890-luvuilla. Kartanon puisto laskee Muurikoskeen, jossa on mylly sekä maamme vanhimpiin kuuluva sähkövoimalaitos.
Historia

Description
The group of manors in Joroinen is a distinctive phenomenon that arose outside the country's main manor zone, and it has strongly shaped the built cultural environment of the parish. Among the manors are masterpieces of architectural history. The manors of Joroinen are part of the wider Savonia manors ensemble, which includes, besides Joroinen, the manors of Rantasalmi and Juva.
The Savonian manor area, which developed under the influence of the sotilasvirkatalojärjestelmä and the Rantasalmi cadet school, is concentrated mainly in Joroinen, Juva and Rantasalmi. The manors in Joroinen include Frugård, Paajala, Joroisniemi, Järvikylä, Koskenhovi, Torstila, Kotkan hovi, Stendal, Vättilän hovi, Pasala and Korhola.
Many of the manors are reached by a long, even kilometres-long, straight avenue of trees from the old main road. The crofters of the manors formed a significant part of the parish population until the 1920s, and crofts that became independent at that time still stand among the residential buildings of the parish.
The cultivated landscape of the low-lying Kotkatlahti, on the western shore of the narrow bay extending from Keriselkä, is dominated by the building groups and courtyard parks of the Frugård, Paajala and Kotkan hovi manors.
Frugård manor lies on the edge of fields sloping down to the lake, in the cultural landscape of Kotkatlahti. A birch avenue leads to the courtyard, which is on a knoll. The rectangular courtyard consists of a yellow-painted, mansard-roofed main building, two red-ochre painted residential buildings, a storehouse and a cowshed. On both sides of the garden passage along the central axis of the main building, a formal garden has been planted.
Frugård is an old ratsutila and was formed in the 18th century from five farmhouses. It has been owned by the Grotenfelt, Wright and Collan families. The main building of the manor, whose ground plan follows the model drawings of Carl Wijnblad, dates from the Gustavian era. Adolf Fredrik Munck, master of the stables to Kustaa III, had the manor built for his mother, Hedvig Juliana Munck. The mansard-roofed rococo building was completed in 1784. It is one of the most significant manor buildings in the country and the finest example of rococo domestic culture. All the rooms facing the garden retain their original linen-painted Stockholm-type wallpapers, original wooden breast panelling and rococo-period stoves. At the gable ends of the mansard storey are small heated chambers. The actual attic section, whose skylights were opened later, has been furnished as the manor's house museum.
The Empire-style main building of the old ratsutila Paajala (Örnevik) was moved to its present site in the 1830s and has retained its appearance from that period. It is surrounded by a dense park.
The two-storey, rendered main building of Kotkan hovi dates from 1930. It was designed by master builder Kokkonen. The courtyard, along the old Kuopiontie, includes outbuildings, a garden, an avenue of trees and a spruce hedge.
The building group of Joroisniemi manor is surrounded by wide fields. Besides the main building, the courtyard includes two storehouses (aitta) placed in the manner of outbuildings, the so-called old tupa, which in addition to a living room has included a servants' room, a horse stable and a shed later converted into a garage. A planted park surrounds the manor building. The main building of the manor dates from the end of the 18th century. Its unarticulated exterior architecture shows influences of Russian manor building.
The main building of Järvikylä was designed by provincial agronomist Alfred Sjöström. Four pyramid-roofed tower structures have been added to the gable ends of the hipped-roofed main building, giving an impression of a fortified castle. The courtyard contains a rich stock of historical outbuildings, as well as a large threshing barn and storehouse complex designed by architect Urho Åberg in 1924-26. Järvilylä manor also has its own chapel.
Torstila is a ratsutila formed in 1681, owned among others by the Tiegerstedt family. J. A. Sandels also lived at Torstila. The present nikkarityylinen main building is a design by architect Leander Ikonen, dating from 1894. The building group, surrounded by fields, also includes a 120-cow cowshed designed by architect J.S. Sirén and other outbuildings. The wide shore fields of Torstila and Järvikylä came into being in connection with the lowering of the lake in the 1860s.
The Pasala building group, which includes a classicist main building, outbuildings and a park, lies on the edge of the wide field plain of Pasalankylä.
The oldest part of Vättilän hovi dates from the 18th century and the youngest is the villa Villa. Besides a granary (aitta), the courtyard includes a cowshed (1927) and a threshing barn (1928). Vättilä, which has been in the possession of the Swartz and Enckell families among others, is the childhood environment of painter Torger Enckell and writer Rabbe Enckell.
The main building of Koskenhovi was built in many parts. Its oldest part is a central-hall building in Empire style from 1844. The building was later extended in the 1870s and 1890s. The manor park slopes down to Muurikoski, where there is a mill and one of the oldest electric power plants in the country.
History
At the beginning of the 17th century there were only four manors in Savonia. The enfeoffed estates were revoked in the 1680s and formed into cavalry farms and military office farms. At the height of Savonia's manor culture, 1760-1860, more than a hundred manors were owned by civil servants and officers. The emergence of manors in Savonia, and through it in Joroinen, in the 18th century is linked to the activities of the Haapaniemi cadet school, 1781-1819. Officers acquired manor estates not only in Rantasalmi but also in the neighbouring parishes of Joroinen and Juva. Many of the manor buildings date from the period of autonomy, from the first half of the 19th century.
