Kuvaus
Pihapiirissä on 1800-luvun talousrakennuksia, mm. arkkitehti C.L. Engelin 1820-luvulla suunnittelema viljamakasiini. Kartanolle johtaa kylätieltä puukujanne.
Kartanon vieressä vanhan hautausmaan kupeessa sijaitseva myöhäisjugendia edustava Pyhän Jaakobin kappeli on arkkitehti Lars Sonckin suunnittelema, vanhalle kirkonpaikalle 1928 pystytetty tiilikirkko. Se jatkaa kappelikirkon historiallista traditiota ja on suunnittelijansa paikallisiin oloihin ja voimavaroihin sovittama muunnelma samanaikaisesti Maarianhaminaan suunnitellusta kirkkorakennuksesta. Edeltävään 1909 palaneeseen kirkkoon liittynyt 1730-luvulla tehty kellotapuli on siirretty nykyiselle paikalleen uuden kirkon rakentamisen yhteydessä. Kappelin vieressä on Engelin suunnittelema Rehbinder-suvulle rakennettu pyöreä kupolikattoinen hautakappeli vuodelta 1824.
Wiksbergin kartano sijaitsee valtakunnallisesti arvokkaalla maisema-alueella Paimionjokilaakso.
Historia
Paimion Wiksberg (aik. Hevonpää) oli keskiaikainen asumakartano. Pihaa rajasivat rakennukset 1760-luvulle asti. Laamanni Paleen rakennutti Wiksbergin kartanoon uuden päärakennuksen 1770-luvulla. Suunnittelijana oli Turun kaupungin muurarimestari Schröder ja rakennusvaihe koski kahta kaksikerroksista rakennusta, joista kivirakenteinen on säilynyt. Puurakennus purettiin 1900-luvun alussa. Arkkitehti Jarl Eklundin suunnitelmien mukaan lisättiin päärakennuksen julkisivuun 1920-luvulla barokkiaiheinen portaali ja itäpäätyyn katettu altaani. Päärakennuksessa tehtiin restaurointitöitä 1900-luvun alussa ja 1960-luvulla.

Description
The main building of Wiksberg manor is one of the most significant manor buildings of our rococo architecture and one of the key achievements of master mason C.Fr. Schröder's output. The manor's building stock, which includes the Pyhän Jaakobin kirkko with its churchyard and the Rehbinder family burial chapels in the nearby grove, together with the park and the associated cultivated fields, forms a notable cultural landscape at the mouth of the Paimionjoki river.
Wiksberg's mansard-roofed main building, which, along with Fagervik, Lempisaari, Teijo and Haaroinen, all designed by Schröder, is one of the few stone residential buildings from the late 18th century, is based on the rococo tradition shaped and popularised by Carl Wijnblad, both in its ground plan and in its facade treatment. The facades are smooth-rendered and emphasised only by corner lesenes, painted window frames and a storey moulding.
The manor yard is surrounded by a garden linked to the farmland landscape, where the stone foundation of a timber building designed by Schröder, on the other side of the courtyard, can still be seen. The garden plan was made by landscape architect Bengt Schalin in 1917 and 1919. The yard contains 19th-century farm buildings, including a grain storehouse designed by architect C.L. Engel in the 1820s. A tree-lined avenue leads to the manor from the village road.
Next to the manor, beside the old cemetery, stands the Pyhän Jaakobin kappeli, a brick church representing late Jugend. It was designed by architect Lars Sonck and erected on the old church site in 1928. It continues the chapel-church tradition and is a variation, adapted by its designer to local conditions and resources, of the church building designed at the same time for Maarianhamina. The bell tower from the 1730s, which belonged to the previous church that burned in 1909, was moved to its present site when the new church was built. Next to the chapel is a round, domed burial chapel from 1824, designed by Engel and built for the Rehbinder family.
Wiksberg manor is situated in the Paimionjokilaakso landscape area, which is of national value.
History
Wiksberg in Paimio (formerly Hevonpää) was a medieval residential manor. The yard was bounded by buildings until the 1760s. Laamanni Pale built a new main building at Wiksberg manor in the 1770s. The designer was Schröder, master mason of the city of Turku, and the building phase concerned two two-storey buildings, of which the stone-built one has survived. The timber building was demolished at the beginning of the 20th century. According to plans by architect Jarl Eklund, a portal with baroque motifs was added to the main building's facade in the 1920s, and a covered canopy was added to the east gable. Restoration work was carried out on the main building at the beginning of the 20th century and in the 1960s.
