Teijon ruukinalue sijaitsee Halikonlahden Teijonselälle laskevan joen alisen kosken varrella. Ruukin 1800-luvun masuuni on säilynyt uudempien teollisuusrakennusten sisässä.

Päärakennus on rakennettu 1770 Turun kaupunginarkkitehti C. Fr. Schröderin, Fagervikin ja lounaissuomalaisten rokokookartanoiden suunnittelijan piirustuksilla. Kaksikerroksinen rakennus on ensimmäisen kerroksen osalta rustikoitu ja toista sileäksi rapattua kerrosta jäsennöivät leveät maalatut pilasterit. Ulkoarkkitehtuurissa ja pohjakaavassa on selvästi nähtävissä Wijnbladin mallikirjojen vaikutus. Pääoven inskriptiotaulussa on teksti: "Medelsst Guds Wälsignelse har Bergs Rådet Herr Johan Jacob Kijk Låtit detta hus upbygga Anno 1770. C.F. Schröder." Päärakennukseen liittyy patolammen rannalle istutettu puisto.

Ruukinkartanon päärakennuksen lähelle 1800-luvun alkupuolella rakennettu ruukinkirkko on sovitettu osaksi maisemapuistoa. Kirkonmäelle johtaa puukujanne ja mäellä on myös ruukinaikainen kivinen viljamakasiini. Kirkon arkkitehtuurille antaa ilmeen kookas pagodimaisesti kohoava torniosa. Portaittain kohoava torni on puusta ja rapattu valkoiseksi. Oven päällä oleva laatta kertoo kirkon rakentamisesta: "Ad gloriam Dei hoc Templum aedificaverunt Robertus et Brita Bremer Anno 1830". Pienessä kirkkosalissa on selkeä yksityiskappelin tunnelma. Seinät on kalkittu ja niitä kiertää tummaksi maalattu paneelimaalaus. Ikkunakaaria ja alttarisyvennystä kiertää rustiikkikoristelu. Kirkon sisätilan nykyinen asu perustuu suurelta osin 1930 tehdyn korjaukseen, jonka on toteuttanut konservaattori Karl Nygren. Yksityinen tehdasseurakunta on lakkautettu 1869.

Ruukin oma hautausmaa on perustettu meren rannalle päärakennuksen luoteispuolelle. Hautausmaalla on ruukinpatruuna Kijkin rakennuttama 1790-luvulla tiilestä muurattu hautakappeli, jonka ympärillä on Bremer-suvun haudat.

Teijon masuunin perusti vuorikollegion presidentti Lorentz Creutz nuor. 1686. Masuunia täydensivät läheiset Kirjakkalan manufaktuuri ja Hummeldalin virran kankivasara. Uuteen kukoistukseen Teijo nousi turkulaisen tukkikauppias Johan Jacob Kijkin 1743 alkaneella omistuskaudella. Samaan aikaan Teijon toiminnan laajentuessa Hummeldalin virralle perustettiin putlauslaitos Mathildedal.

Teijon masuunin toiminta lopetettiin 1908 ja Teijolla alettiin valmistaa maatalouskoneita ja -tarvikkeita. 1900-luvulla Teijo vaihtoi useasti omistajaa. Wihuri-yhtymän aikana Teijolle perustettiin myös laivatelakka.

Ruukin päärakennuksen mansardikerrokseen sisustettiin 1937 Hilding Ekelundin suunnitelman mukaan sarja asuinhuoneita, jotka saavat valaistuksensa karniisipäätteisistä kattoikkunoista. Samassa vaiheessa uudistettiin koko kiinteä sisustus, ovet, ikkunat, listoitukset. Vain muutama rokokoo-ovi säilyi. Toiseen kerrokseen sisustettiin 1960-1970-luvun korjauksissa mm. sauna alkuperäisen vierashuoneen alkoviin.

Teijo ironworks (Tykö bruk) is one of the country's early 17th-century iron works and part of the Halikonlahti iron-making centre. The Teijo ironworks area is a representative 18th-century ironworks setting, consisting of the ironworks manor together with its park and church, industrial buildings concentrated on a strip of shoreline, and cultivated fields bounded by forest.

The Teijo ironworks area lies along the lower rapids of a river flowing into Teijonselkä in Halikonlahti. The ironworks' 19th-century blast furnace survives inside newer industrial buildings. New industrial plants manufacturing agricultural machinery are in the area between the old blast furnace and the sea. On the shore near the loading quay, charcoal kilns from the 19th century have also survived. At Teijo there are shipyard and engineering workshop operations.

The ironworks manor lies north of the industrial area; its overall composition comprises carefully sited residential and service buildings, the ironworks church, park avenues and a French formal garden with its parterres. The main building was built in 1770 to drawings by C. Fr. Schröder, Turku town architect and designer of Fagervik and the southwest Finnish rococo manors. The two-storey building has a rusticated ground floor; the smooth-rendered upper storey is articulated by broad painted pilasters. The influence of Wijnblad's pattern books is clearly visible in the exterior architecture and ground plan. The inscription panel above the main door reads: "Medelsst Guds Wälsignelse har Bergs Rådet Herr Johan Jacob Kijk Låtit detta hus upbygga Anno 1770. C.F. Schröder." A park planted on the shore of the millpond is linked to the main building.

The ironworks church, built near the main building of the ironworks manor in the first half of the 19th century, is integrated into a landscape park. A tree-lined avenue leads up to Kirkonmäki hill, where there is also a stone grain storehouse from the ironworks period. The architecture of the church is given its character by a large tower section rising in pagoda-like fashion. The tower, rising in tiers, is of wood and rendered white. A plaque above the door records the building of the church: "Ad gloriam Dei hoc Templum aedificaverunt Robertus et Brita Bremer Anno 1830". The small church hall has the distinct atmosphere of a private chapel. The walls are limewashed and a dark-painted panel painting runs round them. Rustic decoration runs around the window arches and the altar niche. The present interior of the church is largely based on the 1930 restoration carried out by conservator Karl Nygren. The private factory parish was abolished in 1869.

The ironworks' own cemetery was founded on the seashore north-west of the main building. In the cemetery stands a brick burial chapel built in the 1790s by ironworks patron Kijk, surrounded by the graves of the Bremer family.

The Teijo blast furnace was founded in 1686 by the president of the vuorikollegio, Lorentz Creutz the Younger. The blast furnace was complemented by the nearby Kirjakkala manufactory and the tilt hammer on the Hummeldal stream. Teijo entered a new period of prosperity under the ownership of Turku timber merchant Johan Jacob Kijk, which began in 1743. He had a new blast furnace and the present main building built in 1784. In 1792 the ironworks passed to Turku businessman Joseph Bremer, who had a new blast furnace built at the ironworks and made its operations more efficient. A great deal was built at Teijo ironworks in 1844-1858 while Viktor Zebor Bremer managed it; among other things, workers' housing and charcoal kilns, and, to improve transport links, the Strömma open canal. At the same time, as Teijo's operations expanded, a fulling mill, Mathildedal, was established on the Hummeldal stream.

Operation of the Teijo blast furnace ended in 1908, and Teijo began manufacturing agricultural machinery and equipment. In the 20th century Teijo changed owners many times. During the time of Wihuri-yhtymä, a shipyard was also established at Teijo.

The mansard storey of the main building was fitted out in 1937 to a design by Hilding Ekelund with a series of living rooms, lit by cornice-topped roof windows. At the same time the entire fixed interior was renewed: doors, windows and mouldings. Only a few rococo doors survived. In the repairs of the 1960s-1970s, a sauna was installed on the second floor in the alcove of the original guest room, among other changes.
