The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Arkkitehti Jarl Eklundin 1927 suunnittelema Saaren kartanon klassistinen, rapattu päärakennus lukeutuu aikakautensa huomattavimpiin kartanorakennuksiin.

Yli 20 huonetta käsittävän päärakennuksen interiööreissä on runsaasti alkuperäisiä sisustusdetaljeja kuten yksilöllisesti suunniteltuja ovia, takkoja, koristemaalattuja palkkikattoja, seinien pintakäsittelyjä, kiinteitä kaapistoja ja saniteettikalusteita. Uudesta käyttötarkoituksesta huolimatta on huonejako pystytty säilyttämään alkuperäisenä.

Tiilirunkoiseen ja kuparikattoiseen, mäellä sijaitsevaan päärakennukseen liittyy alas rinnettä laskeutuva terassoitu Paul Olssonin suunnittelema muotopuutarha vesialtaineen ja aksiaalisine sommitelmineen. Kaksikerroksisen rakennuksen pääsisäänkäynnin graniittiportaali on pohjoispuolella.

Kartanon päärakennuksesta syrjässä on 1800-luvun alun asuinrakennus, Tivoli eli Ylikartano, silloisen omistajan C.A. Sederholmin itselleen rakennuttama eremitage eli erakkomaja. Kartanon mansardikattoiset karjarakennukset muodostavat oman ryhmänsä kartanomäen juurella. Saarella 1904-1934 toimineen tulitikkutehtaan rakennukset ovat korjaamohalleiksi muutettuina joen rannalla.

Rautasaaren ratsutila, myöhemmin Saaren kartano periytyy 1500-luvulta. Sederholm-suku omisti Saaren ratsutilan vuodesta 1796 alkaen lähes 90 vuotta. Hirsisen asuinrakennuksen Ylikartanon eli Tivolin rakennutti Carl Albrecht Sederholm. Tiilinen tallirakennus valmistui 1919.

Puutarha-arkkitehti Paul Olssonin suunnittelema puutarha valmistui samoihin aikoihin. Autotalli on samalta ajalta kuin päärakennus.

Saaren kartano myytiin 1935 asutushallitukselle. Hirsinen viljamakasiini vuodelta 1797 siirrettiin kartanon asuinpihalta.

A classicist, rendered main building designed in 1927 by architect Jarl Eklund is among the most notable manor buildings of its era at Saari manor.

The interiors of the main building, which has more than 20 rooms, retain many original decorative features, such as individually designed doors, fireplaces, decoratively painted beam ceilings, wall surface treatments, built-in cabinets and sanitary fittings. Despite its new use, the room layout has been preserved in its original form.

The brick-built, copper-roofed main building stands on a hill and is linked to a terraced formal garden by Paul Olsson, which descends the slope and includes a water basin and axial layouts. The two-storey building's main entrance, with its granite portico, is on the north side.

Set apart from the manor's main building is an early 19th-century residential building, Tivoli, also called Ylikartano, which the then owner C.A. Sederholm had built for himself as an eremitage, or erakkomaja. The manor's mansard-roofed cattle buildings form their own group at the foot of the manor hill. The buildings of the match factory that operated on the island from 1904 to 1934 have been converted into repair halls and stand on the river bank.

The Rautasaari horse farm, later Saari manor, dates back to the 16th century. The Sederholm family owned the Saari horse farm for almost 90 years, from 1796. The log residential building, Ylikartano or Tivoli, was built by Carl Albrecht Sederholm. The brick stable building was completed in 1919.

The manor owner, industrialist Knut Richard de la Chapelle, built a new main building. He chose architect Jarl Eklund as its designer, and Eklund's final plans were completed in 1927. The two-storey, smooth-rendered building, whose exterior architecture combined classical and historicising features, was completed in 1930. The garden designed by landscape architect Paul Olsson was completed at about the same time. The garage is from the same period as the main building.

Saari manor was sold to the Asutushallitus (Settlement Board) in 1935. From 1940 it served as a workshop and vocational school of the Invalidisäätiö, a foundation set up to care for war invalids, and from 1967 as a state agricultural college. The college built, among other things, a dormitory and sports facilities. The log grain storehouse from 1797 was moved from the manor's residential yard.
