Kuvaus
Historia
Evon kruununpuistoon määrättiin 1858 annetulla julistuksella perustettavaksi maamme ensimmäinen metsäopisto. Korkeinta metsäopetusta annettiin Evolla 1862 - 1908, jonka jälkeen opetus siirtyi Helsingin yliopistoon. 1876 Evossa aloitti metsänvartijakoulu (vuodesta 1922 metsäkoulu), 1892 kalastuskoeasema ja 1945 riistantutkimuslaitos. 1989 Evon metsäopisto ja metsätyökoulu yhdistettiin Evon metsäoppilaitokseksi.
Opiston tarvitsemat rakennukset suunniteltiin Intendentin-konttorissa (E. Lohrmann 1859). Vanhin rakennus on 1850 rakennettu ns. vanha mökki, jossa opiston johtaja, "Suomen metsätieteen isäksi" sanottu A. G. Blomqvist asui 1860-1862 opiston rakennustöiden aikana.
Evon alueella on säilynyt vanhoja kruununtorppia, metsänvartijan tiloja ja metsäkämppiä. Evon valtionpuiston metsämaisemat vaihtelevat koskemattomista aarnialueista puistomaisiin, istutettuihin metsiköihin.

Description
The Evo Forestry Institute, together with the Mustiala Agricultural Institute and the Lepaa Horticultural Institute, is one of the first institutions established by the state during the autonomy period, with the aim of promoting agriculture, forest management and horticulture in Finland. The Evo Forestry Institute is still in its original use, and teaching has continued at the institution without interruption for more than 140 years.
The Evo forestry school is located in terrain surrounded by Alinen, Keskinen and Ylinen Rautjärvi, in such a way that the institution's central buildings are on a promontory formed by the lakes.
The institution's present school buildings are new, but among them there are still 19th-century buildings, such as the former director's cottage, the former dining building, the residential building Niemi, a granary building, the post office, the residential building Korpi, the residential buildings Kaivola and Koivula, and the student dormitory Saarela. The institute grounds also include an arboretum.
History
By a proclamation issued in 1858, the establishment of our country's first forestry institute in the Evo crown park was ordered. Higher forestry education was provided at Evo from 1862 - 1908, after which teaching was transferred to the University of Helsinki. In 1876 a forest guards' school began at Evo (from 1922 a forest school), in 1892 a fisheries research station, and in 1945 a game research institute. In 1989 the Evo Forestry Institute and the forestry work school were merged into the Evo Forestry School.
The buildings needed by the institute were designed by the Intendant's Office (E. Lohrmann 1859). The last of them was completed in 1864. Of the original buildings, the lecture hall building, the student dormitory and the director's residence were destroyed in fires, but they have been replaced by new ones, using the old building site, so the original town-plan character of the area has been preserved. The oldest building is the so-called old cottage (ns. vanha mökki), built in 1850, in which the institute's director, A. G. Blomqvist, called "the father of Finnish forest science", lived in 1860-1862 during the building work at the institute.
In the Evo area, old crown crofts, forest guards' holdings and forest huts have been preserved. The forest landscapes of Evo State Park vary from untouched aarnialueista areas to park-like, planted forest stands.
