Reason for registration
based on documentation/write up that the Advisory Council on Heritage Property received that it was the first site of the Pugwash Conference on Nuclear Scientists and that it was a 1902 building that was used as a Masonic Lodge and still is. Also, because of its character defining elements, which include: symmetry of the front facade with a central entrance and flanking windows on each side; the low pitched gabled roof; the two storey mass, the concrete sills and headers at each window; the brick facade and pattern of brick (with every sixth course consiting of headers); the hung windows with stainded glass in most of the upper window sashes; and the original placement of the building on the lot.
